Survivor 50

I thought the same thing originally, but then I realized nobody trusted anybody, and the only way to get into the circle of trust was probably to have and share info.
I see that point too. It's really an interesting dynamic this season. I would like to see Coach get blindsided. He thinks that he's running the game right now.

in my opinion they are clearly setting the story up for Coach to get blindsided. They do that every season. Show the guy who thinks he is running the show way to much one episode or episodes, then he get's blindsided. I think they know that makes it fun for the fans.

When the dumbest guy in the room thinks he's the smartest guy in the room it's always funny. I have an ex-BiL who was like that. So many laughs on the drive home from family gatherings back then. Lol.
I thought after his performance in South Pacific and even his experiences on Tocantins and HvV, that he would have learned....but he really is just not self aware whatsoever lol.

I could definitely see that happening but also I feel like no one there takes him seriously....he screams zero vote finalist

Me after tonight.
Yes this episode could have been done in 30 minutes. Have the journey (didn't need 15 minutes of Stephenie explaining how the challenge works over and over). The reminder of her injury and why this would be hard is fine but it drug out forever. Just have everyone compete in the immunity challenge. The first part was just a drawn out way to have half the people eliminated. Cut all the dressing of vote manipulation by the production to create drama in the "who will they vote out" question. It was obvious it was going to be Dee. Especially when she got up and tried to change it at tribal. It was painfully clear she knew she was screwed when she got up and tried to create chaos and nobody else seemed to care besides Jeff saying "We've got a live tribal!" This episode was frustrating to watch and I was just happy it was over.

Finally got caught up this weekend. Have been at least 1 or 2 weeks behind lately thanks to kids having a million things going on and then they don't want to watch the episodes when I want to sometimes.

Anyways some general thoughts since last time I posted

Mike White: he wasn't going to make it much further had he stayed so I was ok with him going. He opened up a wound that Christian had from a past season just like Christian did with Ozzy and Christian basically beat him to the punch on allowing him to manipulate people and their votes so was a good move on him IMO.

Angelina ; meh, you knew she wouldn't make it too far as she can be annoying and doesn't do anything in camp or challenges either for the most part.

Charlie: that one I don't like. Charlie is a good player but always seems to be on the wrong side of numbers for some reason. Rizo opened up the wound about Maria betraying him which is probably what set off a little paranoia on his part. Still think Charlie should have won his season instead of Kenzie too. Hope he gets 1 more shot at some point to play again.

Kamilla, Genevieve, and Colby: Was glad to see the 1st 2 go, sad to see Colby but he was probably not long for having to be removed or ask people to vote him out eventually with his foot injury too. He's a very likable player and would have been fun to see if he could have pushed on it not for the foot. I never could stand Genevieve so was glad that was an easy vote for them. Kamilla I wasn't a big fan of on season 48 as she just rode Kyle's coattails and never really was a challenge threat or did much at camp and same again this season.

Dee: She was the right vote. She's not one of my favorite players either but she is a challenge and social game threat and former winner so was the right time to get her out. Coach is no threat to win this season so you put up with his stupid antics a bit longer then vote him out when some other threats are gone.

Like others have stated, I am amazed how much info is flowing where advantages are out in the open. I've always felt those advantages are most effective when you keep them secret and only use them when your back is against the wall or need to make a big move. Everyone seems to tell Cirie their secrets which if you have ever seen her play in the past is the dumbest thing you can do because she is basically the town gossiper and that's how she survives in the game is playing everyone in the social game because she is no threat to win immunity and not cut throat enough in her strategy to orchestrate a series of votes.

I really hope Rizo is voted out soon. He is one again getting a little cocky like he was on his last season and you would think that veteran players would know your biggest wildcard is trusting a player that you have never seen their season so you don't know how they play. I don't get why everyone is so obsessed about Aubry and her idol. She is not really aligned with anyone right now and can be a little paranoid at times like Charlie was. And she should have just said "I didn't play my idol because I didn't feel like I needed to" and leave it at that. Own it, its your idol if they rest of the tribe is worried about it they will force you to flush it out by putting a vote on you or blindside you. Just look how dumb everyone last season was with Rizo and never forced his hand to make him play it sooner. I see the same thing happening this season, people who have an idol should just hold pattern until they think they need to use it because the threat of having one or even people assuming you may play a shot in the dark or have an advantage you may not have is more power than they realize and almost takes some of the target off you at times because they are so worried you will play it and they will go home as a result.

Coach is being coach again which will ultimately be his downfall. Tiff needs to keep her emotions in check too because she's becoming a target lately with how the last few votes have gone and how she has reacted to them.

Last thoughts as I feel like I am unloading about 3 or 4 weeks of thoughts in 1 post... Going forward I'm kind of rooting for Ozzy to make it to the end. He's reminded me why I enjoyed him in previous seasons. I think Christian has a chance to make it far as does Emily if she can keep calm and not do something stupid with who she tells things to. I obviously like Joe a lot but not sure he's got what it takes to play cutthroat enough to make it to the end. I think Johnathan is playing a really good game right now and is an obvious physical threat which will probably put a bigger target on him soon. Devens seems to be playing a good middle game right now too. Cirie and Stephanie will probably hang around for a bit because they are good at working the numbers in votes. I think Coach, Tiff, Chrissy, and Aubry probably going to be the more likely targets next, it should be Rizo if these people only knew what he is capable of. Really hoping 1 or 2 old school players can make it to the end and prove that these newer players aren't all what they think they are.

Who does everyone think is sitting good at this point? The first few weeks I thought Cirie was toast. Now she would be my odds on pick to win it all right now. She's got herself in a great position where so many are still wanting to play with her and tell her secrets yet she's now off the radar of literally everyone. I'll be shocked if she doesn't make the finale at this point if she keeps playing like she is.

I think eventually she becomes a target as everyone knows she's likable and good social player and unfortunately thats what a lot of people seem to vote for winners. Then again the jury could be full off old school players too who dont value that as much as the newer players do. I could see her eventually slip up and give info to the wrong player that turns on her as she does have the gift of gab at times. I just hope that Rizo doesn't make it to the end at this point as he is so cocky and sleazy at times. I dont respect his game at all.

Honestly too early still to come up with 3 I think have best shot to make it. A lot can happen with as many that arr left as long as you have someone like coach and tiff in the mix who create chaos with their emotions.

She's like the human Survivor version of Ali's "rope-a-dope" technique he used against George Foreman... just bending and swaying and leaning and ducking and avoiding trouble but at the same time putting together a nice resume for a potential W. I'd be shocked if they let her make it to the finale, because if she does she'll be hard to beat.

Stephanie is a beast who I think is playing a really solid game. And Joe needs to assert himself a little more and orchestrate some big moves, but so far he's playing a smart, quiet game IMO.

if Stephanie wins the backlash will be pretty interesting to watch. Those drunk videos of her anti-semitic comments to former Survivor contestant Eliza will resurface ten fold.

Oh sh*t, I was not aware of any of that.
I only stumbled upon it right before this season started. The video doesn't paint her in a great light, especially because she's clearly been drinking. And she apologized and admitted her remarks were awful and that she was drunk. The video has been taken down on HER account. My point is that Eliza is the one I originally saw the video from, so you know that video would resurface.

I didn't know about that. Regardless I've never seen her as someone that should have been on this cast as she's terribly over-rated as a player from her prior 3 seasons. So many other deserving players from her era that could have been chosen instead. She was the last one left on her Palau tribe which may be the worst tribe in the history of the show. Gets invited back for Guatemala and somehow gets runner up receiving just 1 vote. Then last time she played was Heros vs Villains and was the 2nd person voted off.

Coach sucks, and I'm disappointed that Jonathon aligned himself with Coach.

Emily is messy.

Joe seems to be playing quiet, definitely different from his other season. Maybe it's just the edit.

I like Tiff but the writing is on the wall for her.

Ozzy seems to be playing well and could be a threat until the end.

Ok, so I'm sorry... I wasn't a huge Rizzo fan last year, mostly because he ended up aligned with people I didn't care for, and that rizgod nonsense is just cringe. But, he's smart. He called out Coach last week and was 100% on point. Also getting in with Cirie how he did was a great move.

Rizo is playing a good game. He's smart, just kind of annoying.

I'm so up and down on rizzo. Last season he was annoying, then endearing, then back to annoying. This season it's more of the same. He does things that are just dumb and annoying, then turns around and does something that just seems genius.

The rizgod thing is stupid mostly because he seems to believe himself when he tells himself he is a god. Much like coach is annoying when he is the "dragon slayer" because he believes he is killing the evil demon. Over the years I've grown to like coach because he seemed to embrace the fact that some of his schtick is obsurd and he is just being a crazy character. It's when he takes himself to seriously that he gets annoying.

I'm surprised after 50 seasons, that we don't have another "Richard Hatch" walking around naked all the time. You would think with all the personalities to play this game, you would find another kook to let it all hang out and not give 2 poops.

If I had to guess the producers have probably made that a rule by now that you can't do that. Between the issues with him then that Dan guy they had to remove from the game for inappropriately touching people they probably don't want another controversy like those to happen. Just like they did away with the challenges where they had 1 or 1 or really physical battles where someone could get hurt or inadvertantly touched somewhere that could be perceived as being out of line. That was kind of Hatch's strategy was if he was naked people would not want to get near him during a physical challenge.
