Quick. Don't look at brackets or your ESPN app. And don't scroll through the thread.

What states do you think have the most teams in the Men's NCAA BB tournament? How many? Including play-in games.

There are some surprises this year, both in terms of states with 3 or more teams and states with less than 3.

And note that this thread is about the men's tournament. There is another thread for the women's tournament.

Men's teams in NCAA BB tournament:
7 - Texas.
5 - California.
3 - North Carolina, Arizona, Iowa.
2 - Alabama, Missouri, Virginia, New Jersey, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, South Carolina.

Would be interesting to see that as a percentage of total D1 teams in the state. 75% for Iowa would be high on the list, I'm guessing. AZ may be at 100% (U of A, ASU, GCU) unless I'm missing any.

Anybody ever been to Houston's campus? I was looking at a map and it appears Texas Southern is literally about 2 blocks away from Houston.

Off topic but just something I found interesting how close they are when I was looking on maps.

Now which state has the highest percentage of tournament eligible teams in the field? Iowa’s 75% has to right toward the top.

I’ve been trying this out with random people at the United Club in Newark. No one gets more than 3 of the top 5. And no one picks Arizona or Iowa (despite my ISU jacket)!

All that matters is one team from 1 state. It’s absolutely not a point of pride in any way for a “state” to get multiple teams in the tournament. I have no desire to wish any rival state school any luck or any success in any way.
