Sprint, Framily plan

Your phone may not show an indicator indicating that your data roaming is being done on 1x, but that is the policy for data roaming on consumer accounts. If you try a speed test while roaming, it will be pretty clear that what you are experiencing is not 3G.

Exactly. Or get an app like SignalCheck (android) and it will show the real network connection.

The roaming indicator shown on your phone is affected by a number of things, and as I recall, one of them is a setting in the PRL. For each network defined in the PRL, there is a suggestion as to what roaming indicator should be shown (i.e. 1X, 3G, LTE). And on android phones, configuration files affect what roaming indicator get shown as well.

For those interested, below is a link to current Sprint PRLs...

Correction: In looking at a PRL template, the PRL only has a field for whether the roaming indicator should be off or on for a given network. However, the ROM can still define which indicator gets shown for which network type.

I'm happy that I bought a Nexus 5 so I can switch from carrier to carrier if I don't like them (Except Verizon). So far after switching from Verizon to T-Mobile, I'm happy I made the switch. T mobile is so much easier to deal with. For the first 3 months I had the plan that only had 1gb data plan. If I go over that plan they don't charge extra, just throttle. I decided it was worth an extra $10/month to go to the 3gb plan. This took me roughly 2 minutes to change online. Their website is so much better.

Oh and now Pandora/Spotify doesn't count against my data. This new CEO at T-Mobile is showing how to get it done.

My family has been a Sprint member since 1996 (when it was Nextel). We've added lines over the years. When my father died, they told us since the policy holder passed away, we can't be grandfathered into the discount we had. After our contract is up in August, they will literally stop our service. We had 4 lines with unlimited everything and international calling and texting for $89 a month.

We're trying to figure out where to switch. We're thinking T-Mobile

I've looked several times. It could be because I'm a Ting customer using Sprint coverage.

Yeah, it's this. I'm on Virgin Mobile and I have the same thing. The deal is that with a 'prepaid' contract, they don't really have a contract to charge you the overages on roaming, so you just can't roam.

99% of the time it's not an issue for me, but when I was in northwest Iowa this weekend, it was a pain. Kind of considering the framily thing, just haven't pulled the trigger.

The commercials alone are enough for me not to do it

At least Andrew Dice Clay is getting a paycheck. It's just strange it's for playing a talking hamster. Actually the talking hamster and the crappy guy from SNL make this a pretty awful ad campaign

Hamsters = bad ads. I'm looking at you, Kia

The Diceman must have been hard up for money if he agreed to play a talking hamster on a cell phone commercial.
