So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

People say "I don't like Pollard's handling of NIL" and then immediately go on to demonstrate they don't understand how it all works. It's just rage posting. I can understand why threads like that keep getting locked.
Not sure anyone understands how it works at this point. It's a free for all.

Maybe at the end of the day these things all ring true:

Pollard is really good at many important aspects of his job and has done very well during his tenure at Ames (Remember Van De Velde...don't call me Bruce)

He introduced Rogers at the wrong time while those kids were still hurting....wait until the next morning regardless of what is leaked via twitter etc.

He needs to be a little more willing to be a little more progressive with NIL

And on note thats been mentioned a million times: Sell alcohol at games.
The announcement thing I always thought was a nothing burger, but I’ve thought a little more and now believe it would have been best to call a player meeting the next day and do things. Reason is, now hearing all these mixed messages from players families, it’s apparent that Campbell was telling players some different things. I wonder if he put a bad bug about Rogers in their ears and that could have been eliminated that night if he had waited.

I also am unsure of Campbell coming back to talk to the players. I’m not sure if that was the correct choice by Rogers. I’m not sure how it went down so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Jamie Pollard is the best athletic director in the history of Iowa State. He's done some amazing things on a relative shoestring budget. All fans of Iowa State owe him a debt of gratitude.

He also comes off as a condesending prick.

I'm gald he's our athletic director, but he seems like a guy I would avoid in a small town bar.

In the current environment we DON'T. We are currently using our savings to fund the Revenue Sharing. So what happens when that savings runs out in a few years and we can't fund our Revenue Sharing?
Those are key questions. Have read over and over from ISU fans and outsiders alike that ISU is a ‘poverty program’ that will never compete for a title in football. Perhaps that is true. If so, then generally, what is the point and purpose?

The teams are performing great. How can we make sure that continues? Doesn't that make our coaches more attractive elsewhere? If there are things we can do to retain them - and I don't know what all those things are - shouldn't we try? Or do we just assume all is well, nothing to see here? Do you ever ask questions about things or just plod cluelessly forward in life? Must be nice and easy. Stress free I guess. Jesus dude.
I ask questions but always have an idea of what a solution might be. You are just asking questions. That’s the easy and lazy part. Offering solutions is the critical thinking part that you brought up, you have not offered solutions therefore I’m looking for your critical thinking.

To be fair, I avoid ANYONE who hangs out in a small town bar.

Is he really better than Gene Smith?

What is the point of doing anything?

Agree... But what are we doing to find more money? Some of the easy solutions to getting more money (alcohol sales) get pushed aside.

Sometimes you have to look at new ways to generate income, and we don't seem to want to change how we do it.
Agree with the beer sales, but what are the other easy solutions?

Are most schools not doing what they can to help donors give NIL money directly to players while ISU is only focused on funding revenue sharing?

I get that ISU is in a different spot since we didn't have huge donors. But I do feel like we leave a lot on the table and are not turning over every stone.
I am not sure, but we can't even fund the Rev Share and are going to have to come up with a solution for when the reserves that are funding it for two years runs out. That's the priority with NIL opportunities a close second.

I believe we could be doing more NIL, but how? We can't afford a staff to manage it. I don't know if @brentblum former role is being replaced, but it sounded like it is base on JP's "hallway interview". At that time he also shared that the AD went to the largest donors and secured $4MM in NIL and @brentblum efforts raised another $1MM (Brent, please feel free to confirm). Is this an 80/20 situation and JP doesn't have the resources to pursue the 80% that gives the 20% (or less) or non-donors?

I don't know what the solution is and it's fair to ask questions. I just don't know enough about this complex and difficult situation to offer solutions and I sure as hell am not going to simply complain.

I love ISU but I can confidently say we will NEVER win a NC. And I am fine with that. I'll still go to games and cheer on the Cyclones.

I am never going to win one of the Crown Jewells in my racing but I still love racing and will continue to do it.

If a Cyclone fan is NC or bust, they are cheering for the wrong school.

this sums up these threads and possibly why they keep popping up against Pollard. At the end of the day the two-three actual ideas for "forward thinking" revenue/NIL that any of our keyboard warriors can come up with might generate an extra 500K -2 mil at most? I'm sorry but that's not going to make our top 4 sports any more or less elite on the field/court.
