I can't decide if I'm happy or unhappy that I got AA-battery backup ones versus sealed. That said, since I have the most annoying one down already, I guess I might as well take this opportunity to replace all the batteries in them now anyway. Don't know how long to really expect the backup AA's to last on a wired smoke alarm. The OEM advice tends to be replace them every 6 or 12 months.I decided against the sealed battery version of the one I linked above. I had not read good things about the 10-year battery life. I put those in in summer of 24 and have not had a dead battery beep . . . yet.

I've seen the permanent battery versions of alarms be stated for 10 years, but actually only last anywhere from 3-7 years in reality, then you're stuck buying a completely new unit.
Really wishing now I tried to round up some late model Nests last summer before they disappeared. F-ing Google.
