Sherrone Moore Fired

It’s a cult thing all Michigan grads say. It’s not just about a football coach. They truly think being a Michigan Man makes you a better person.

My ex BIL was a Michigan grad as is his whole family. He’s an addict and an absent father, but I have zero doubt he thinks he’s better than all of us because he’s a Michigan Man. It’s ******* weird.
I know quite a few TOE people that are the same way about their connection there. I think its part of their orientation or something, that because they go their they are superior to anyone else. When I toured there with my daughter the tour guide basically said something to that effect. They even call it something, the Iowa douchebaggery attitude or something, i dont remember exactly.

Yeah I generally don’t care what you do in your personal life but it’s in his contract and he has little kids. To me, you’re too stupid to be out coach if you think you’re going to get away with it. That’s not to mention the moral dilemma.
Agree and it’s also not purely “personal” when it’s with an employee. Now it’s crossed into “professional” which becomes the problem.

These things are never good for the workforce and create risks for the enterprise. That’s why most have rules against this - especially with certain org chart dynamics.

There is also the character issue which I think is more than fair for an employer to consider in such situation (e.g. leader of young adults, public figure, face of your program, etc)

This is no longer about football - it’s about black eye for Michigan.

It is similar to the Beard thing at Texas. Because he is a public representative of the University and in the Public Eye, his conduct, even outside work is subject to scrutiny. I am sure his contract has specific clause about his conduct, both professionally and personally.

Mental hold. This it’s very bad/sad. The details are only if what I’ve read is true.

Looks like their regents have an emergency meeting for their AD tomorrow morning. Rumors he was trying to cover it up. That whole AD needs a reset.
I think he resigns tomorrow.

It’s funny. I’ve consumed a lot of Michigan media in my life and I think I’ve heard that phrase used unironically like 5 times and 4 of them were when RichRod was failing.
Ive been to family events for the ex BILs side in Michigan in the past. I have heard that damn phrase in normal conversations so many damn times and not being used ironically.

Michigan media may not use it but i can assure you that the cult that is UM grads its a belief and its multi generational.

Any university would be foolish not too. Way too much money, oublicity, reputation, etc. on the line.

There's also the "pay for play" aspect. Where she's given a raise, not for her job performance, but for extracurricular activities. At least that's how it appears. It could have been "hush" money, I suppose.

Using funds for your own personal sexual pleasure is definitely a fire-able action in most public jobs.

No doubt. This **** never stays quiet. It creates drama, distraction, resentment and all sorts of other **** you don't need going on in the workplace.

God forbid this assault has anything to do with her. University would be in the middle of the biggest **** storm ever.

For context, she is paid on par with their swimming & diving coach :)

Imagine they do land DeBoer and Freeman does bolt for the NFL.

  • Alabama surely isn't losing this game of musical chairs which means some other big name goes next. Same with ND.
  • Kiffin loses out on his dream job by a couple of weeks.
  • Campbell potentially loses out on a job he wanted more (Notre Dame).

This **** just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

jesus christ. College football needs a factory reset right now.

I don't know how college football keeps chuggin' along as it does.

It's constantly hit with nuclear-level scandals...

Jerry Sandusky and Penn St.
Larry Nassar (mostly but not exclusively Michigan St.)
Art Briles and Baylor
Pac-12 getting ripped apart
Academic fraud at North Carolina (a supposedly "elite" academic institution)
Bobby Petrino's whole career
etc.

And now this whole Moore disaster out of nowhere.

...but nothing seems to phase it. It's practically Godzilla at this point.
