Rutgers Lost at U. Conn.

There have been criticisms that we have sacrificed size for speed but our defense and special teams have won us many of our games. We force a lot of turnovers.

I think the one big advantage ISU has is that they have a 240 pound running back that can get 4 or 5 yards a crack on most plays and has the ability to get bigger gains if holes start to open. The weather for this game could be absolutely crap and we might see Woody up the middle a lot.

I'm predicting/hoping that our O-line dominates the game and we pound Woody right down the throat of Rutger's defense. Once they start crowding the box hopefully some big passing plays can open up. I really think ISU has a great shot in this game as I think our defense will shut them down. Their defense and the fact that this is practically a home game for them worries me.

This worries me...our team was built to stop the spread.

What are you saying? That we should start Steele Jantz? That Paul Rhoads is seriously considering the UConn job if it opens up? That our SOS was too strong to let us into the bowl? That Rutgers fans are overconfident for a reason?

Help! Your rational approach isn't telling me exactly how I should panic and fret! I have rights!

The post was actually for a buddy of mine who works at Rutgers and actually played there a number of years ago.

We both actually think it'll be a close game.

I hope we win not going to talk smack, shout out facts, just want a win. Cyclones, have a good prep and have fun in NYC!!! Wish I made more money to support you there!!

Rutgers has some really nice wins this year. Taking them lightly would be a huge mistake. We as Cyclone fans know that any team can step up and beat another on any given day. I by no means feel overly confident about this match up. Especially playing them on the east coast where they will considerably outnumber our fans.

Rutgers lost at U. Conn. 40-22. We beat U. Conn. there without our current starting QB.

Additionally, our SOS is one of the toughest in the country.

Looking forward to shutting up some of the Rutgers fans.

Ok I will roll with this transitive logic. ISU beat Okie St. OSU=#3 therefore ISU is #2 and is going to the national championship!!!!!!!!!!!!:jimlad::jimlad::jimlad: (Extra Sarcasm)

One thing to take into consideration with your big back is that the field at the Steinbrenner Memorial Whorehouse, er, Yankee Stadium, is absolute crap. What they did was strip off the mound and lay fresh sod to create the field. Unfortunately, the sod hasn't taken and put down deep roots, so it shreds very easily. Our kicker had trouble all day on that field - on his first PAT, his plant foot slipped about 3-4 inches forward as his kicking leg was swinging through. Also, it became difficult to maintain footing in some areas as you ran or cut. Furthermore, the corners of the endzones butt right up against the stadium walls, so if someone is going full tilt they could get injured if they can't slow down in time.

UConn is not a good measure of us. We came out totally flat for that game, as any chance of getting a BCS bid was lost due to the results of the Thursday & Friday night games. Plus, there's a lot of bad feeling between the teams, and the Yukon team really wanted to deny us a share of the Big East title. They had a real chip on their shoulders and came to play. We didn't.

This should be an interesting game to watch, particularly if the weather turns bad.
