Legendary actor Robert Redford has died at the age of 89. Redford died at his home in Utah, Fox News Digital has learned.

I walked downstairs this morning and saw a live break in to the news. No offense to him but not sure it really warranted that. With everything going on in the world I started freaking out.
Watched with my parents at the drive in theater… I chose to sit in the back and watch Star Trek III with no sound. I love it now though.
I've probably seen Sneakers at least 20 times. Such a good movie (and way ahead of its time thematically).
Loved him in The Last Castle - very underrated film IMO.
Cool story. Mine was just the typical recorded off of HBO at the grandparent's and rewatched on the VCR. Over and over and over...
I was talking to a coworker about that movie and couldn't remember the name.
Prison movies are kind of an underrated niche genre compared to "gangster/mafia" movies. There are a lot of great ones beside just Shawshank. I also really like The Last Castle and after "The Natural" and "All the President's Men" it might be the next Redford role that comes to my mind for my own taste in movies. A few weeks ago almost by accident I stumbled upon "Against the Wall" 90s HBO movie with incredible cast, true story of Attica.
Ordinary People is in my top-5 movies of all time.
And I'm with you on The Sting. It's either that or The Natural for my #1 Redford (acting) movie.
Great story about him casting Mary Tyler Moore to play the mom in Ordinary People. He saw her sitting alone on the beach that bridged their properties and she had this very contemplative, sad, kind of blank expression on her face as she was staring out into the ocean. That was the exact look that RR had envisioned for the mom when he read the book, so he reached out to her about the role. It was a very unconventional role for her because the entire country knew MTM as this very perky, up, lively person and character in her performances. This was obviously a big departure from that, and it scored her an Oscar nomination.

I'm a big fan of CBS Sunday Morning and the content they put out. Here's a compilation of three short interviews they did with Redford in 1990, 2006 & 2018. Real good stuff!
He was in the Twilight Zone early in his career. He had a huge run of movies in the early 70’s. My mom and dad were big fans back then. 3 days of the Condor might be my favorite. I read a lot of spyfi novels.
Yes, in the 70's the top box office movie male heartthrobs were Robert Redford and Burt Reynolds.
Flashback to 1969 ISU freshman me going to the theater in Ames, still had a theater downtown area, to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Pitt is a much better actor than Redford. Nothing against Redford. RIP.
