Because that angle is a bit of an optical illusion (seriously). Combine that with the side angles and it's clear he never got a foot down.

That's actually debatable as well. Looked like he bobbled it a bit until after he hit the ground.

Agree, and with the white end line in the background, you should be able to see the black rubber pellets kick up if he actually was able to drag his cleat across the ground. There was none of that.
