You guys are getting a good one in Macchiaroli. Not sure if he will be a 197lb or 285 he weighs around 210 naturally. Big up side, very athlethic. He hasen't gotten much attention in the national rankings but he has some quality wins over 3 or 4 of the guys ranked in front of him.

He definitely looks like he could put on more weight at 6' 3" and be a true heavy weight after a redshirt year. He's ranked # 6 in the nation at 215 in W.I.N. magazine. He might have to bulk up to 250-260. May be Big Z can teach him something next season. I'd throw him in with the football players to lift year round.

Eric Thompson's also listed as 6' 3"...anybody know how much he weights?

Guys like Macc and Z are reasons that the NCAA should have a weight class between 197 and 285...somewhere in the 235-240 range.

But, that would further hamstring coaches in the scholarship department.

I agree there should be a weight class around 211lbs to keep close to the international weight. Macchiaroli dosen't wrestler like a heavyweight it would be interesting to see him there. He has a very good low level single and has a solid Greco background and wrestlers to score bonus points all the time. That's a intertaining thought for heavyweights. I hadn't seen the WIN Rankings that have him at #6 at 215 but looking at them he has a win over #2 Nelson from Minnisota at the NHSCA Junior Nationals last year. I was hoping he would not end up at ASU even though I'm somewhat of a fan. I think he will get pushed and develop in the ISU room for obvious reasons.

I see Macchiaroli is ranked #16 in the nation by InterMat. I guess it doesn't matter what poll you believe. Most of the top recruits haven't went head to head. But he's definitely a top recruit. Nelson is ranked 2nd by W.I.N and 5th by InterMat.
