Yeah, better to be getting scraps from the big boy table than to get kicked out entirely and have to eat out of the dumpster in the alley. You have to think the boston colleges and wake forests of the world know they are DOA if the ACC implodes. I think the ACCC ends up keeping its brands by unequal revenue distribution.
What were his comments, haven’t heard anything about that.Josh Pate references the ACC news but also Jamie's comments from a few months back about the bigger brands in the $EC and B1G turning against the smaller brands in those same leagues. Check out the 8:23 mark.

Ahhh I got ya, he’s speculating and trying to read the tea leaves not talking about anything currently going on. Totally get where he is coming from with the comments after dealing with Texas.![]()
Iowa State's Jamie Pollard says college sports' power players are 'going to eat their own'
Iowa State athletics director Jamie Pollard had strong words about the state of college sports, specifically as Big Ten and SEC benefit financially.www.desmoinesregister.com
That implies relegation which isn’t happening even if sometimes I think it should. So if SEC and B1G mimic the ACC move, and the bigger brands start getting more money than the smaller ones... that's another step closer to a Premier League right? Eventually the smaller fries, disadvantaged in their own conference, lose even more and look even worse. At what point does someone say "let's put the big boys together and dump the chaff"?
The money momentum continues to push towards a Premier League and a second-tier league.
No, but someone at Ohio State is thinking about it...That implies relegation which isn’t happening even if sometimes I think it should.
Also nothing is actually suggesting that is happening in the P2 anytime soon
There could have been multiple ACC relegated if ESPN didn't pick up the 2027 option and as noted in an ESPN article previously linked, nobody in the ACC wanted more ADs be destroyed like Oregon St and Wazzu have been => "Multiple administrators who spoke with ESPN noted the severe impact that the collapse of the Pac-12 had on Oregon State and Washington State, and the observably diminished values of those programs has helped spark interest in negotiating a settlement."So if SEC and B1G mimic the ACC move, and the bigger brands start getting more money than the smaller ones... that's another step closer to a Premier League right? Sure doesn’t mean it happensNo, but someone at Ohio State is thinking about it...
Someone else at Texas too.
The ACC contract was always getting renewed. You were the only one adamant about it happening just like this initiative you keep talking about that isn’t happening eitherThere could have been multiple ACC relegated if ESPN didn't pick up the 2027 option and as noted in an ESPN article previously linked, nobody in the ACC wanted more ADs be destroyed like Oregon St and Wazzu have been => "Multiple administrators who spoke with ESPN noted the severe impact that the collapse of the Pac-12 had on Oregon State and Washington State, and the observably diminished values of those programs has helped spark interest in negotiating a settlement."
The "someone" you reference who may want to put the big boys together in a separate Premier League are the networks and maybe a PE firm (who is not affiliated with the CST and Rudy initiatives). I think everything will be done to prevent that separation including, if necessary, Judicial/Congressional intervention as JP has previously noted. You can still have a fair unequal revenue sharing mechanism amongst 70 P4 schools without destroying any more ADs which is what CST and Rudy initiatives are proposing in addition to rational geographic realignment.

Already posted that I wasn't adamant about it happening under the threat of backlash from relegating more schools. Not sure why you're unable to accept that. The ACC contract was always getting renewed. You were the only one adamant about it happening just like this initiative you keep talking about that isn’t happening either
"The PAC-12 will never break up - they are too geographically protected! Who would want to pick up the travel problems and costs? Just doesn't make any sense, and no one is talking about it!"There seem to be two types of people on this topic
1) Those who have seen the trend over the last 15 years, and are predicting where this might end up.
2) Those who respond to # 1 with "Nobody has mentioned that outcome or seriously talked about it"
The only statement that's wrong regarding college football transformation is "That will never happen"
Man if Vader shows up things are going to get wild!"The PAC-12 will never break up - they are too geographically protected! Who would want to pick up the travel problems and costs? Just doesn't make any sense, and no one is talking about it!"
"Why would Texas or Oklahoma leave the Big12? They run the conference! Easy access to the playoff in football too. Plus Texas A&M would veto any such move. Never happen."
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. Heck I probably wrote both of the above at one point.
I am not saying that a Premier League is inevitable. But the money momentum is moving inexorably in that direction. Unless an outside force (PE? Congress? Darth Vader?) brings the entire "artist formerly known as the P5" (and maybe G5 too) together into a single entity to negotiate with the media contracts and create a level-ish playing field for all... it's much more likely than not to happen.
I think you might not be understanding how a lot of the AD’s operate. Most of the schools that show a deficit this year are from money being moved to be prepared for the settlement funds which was unexpected. The fact that most of the big brand schools in the P2 still have to be subsidized by their schools to operate is a strong indicator that the motivation will be there to form their own "super league" or force unequal distribution like the ACC. That is after they squeezed all the CFP money they can.
