Apparently NIU and Toledo to the MWC football only is a done deal.

Toledo is going to move everything else to The Valley (great fit btw) and NIU is moving everything else to The Horizon.

Probably worth it for them to stop having to play on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and getting those games back on Saturday where they've got a shot to draw a crowd.

I admit, I never would've predicted THAT move.

Me either. Everybody knew NIU was unhappy in the MAC but thought their other sports were a boat anchor that was going to keep them there. This is a really good move for them I think.

Toledo? total left field. No idea they were even looking. They are going to pull off the rare 'improving football and MBB' move. It's great for them.

And the Valley just keeps moving further east...UNI is going to be left alone out here in the "west"! Never thought the "center" of the Valley would be that far east...

This PAC - MWC - AAC realignment talk is just extra sad.
....yes it is (more absurd than sad) and it would have been completely avoided if the PAC accepts Bowlsby's offer to merge after the OUT to SEC announcement and even if USC, UCLA, UO and U-Dub later go to the B10.

What do you think the MWC is going to be doing to gain visibility? I imagine non Saturday games will be the norm for that league.

They've got the advantage of not being an ESPN property. They're with FOX and CBS so there's plenty of space for them on CBSSN/FS1/FS2. I'd imagine you'll see some Thursdays and Fridays but you won't have the ridiculous Tuesday/Wednesday rivalry games which are killing their gates.

Maybe already was mentioned, MWC eyeing Texas State (something I kinda woulda guessed, most likely going to try to get into that state somehow). EPSN had something last night so maybe it's old news by now.

Interesting . . . . . the ISU group would be hell in basketball (ISU, UNC, UCONN, UK) plus Auburn, Tenn, Mizzou, Pitt,

That is intriguing.

It’d be amusing to have Alabama, Georgia and LSU in the same conference as Temple and UTSA. Or USC and Kennesaw State. FIU and U-M. Etcetera.

Secondary note: I had no idea Wake Forest enrollment is that low.

I mean, the conference names are a little lacking. I wouldn’t want to be in the really really small conference. Medium Big feels fine.

Toledo had the best geography of maybe any FBS school and is throwing it away to play San Jose State in football and the Valley in other sports. Almost every game was within a 3 hour drive.

Not sure I would call it great, but the fan/student experience is clearly not on the top of anyone's mind with realignment. (Though I understand the weeknight football game thing balances that slightly.)
