I don’t think he is. Let’s not pretend this was about anything other than money. And for that it’s been incredibly successful. Both parties got exactly what they wanted out of the deal which was a shitload of money.

I hate the big 10 did it; I wish they hadn’t done it, but that was a wildly successful move. If the big 10 brought in a team that increased tv revenue 400% we wouldn’t be saying “oh that’s a terrible move.”
That's fair

I had to stop watching when he described Apple as a 23rd century company because they can digitize games and make them available anywhere at the touch of a button.

Wait til this dumb **** discovers YouTube TV, or the internet for that matter.
I was pumped to hear Apple was going to broadcast games on the Holodeck, and also can't wait to take out a second mortgage and buy my iHoloDeck3

Stewie out there finding things to b*tch about. Lol

I like seeing Stewy put this type of content out because I think it's time the public perception of the B1G turns, casting them as the villains they are.

Conference destroyers. Rivalry killers. Cash mongers.

**** that conference.
(but if you invited us, we'd gladly join you B1G :jimlad:)

OMG, do you see what's happening!

But,...but.....This is from his bio on the ASU website: "Michael M. Crow is an educator, knowledge enterprise architect, science and technology policy scholar and higher education leader." (Bold added for emphasis):D:D:puke:

I'd put the Big 10 as a loser. In no way did they want to add Washington and Oregon. At least not right now. Big 10 fans have hung their hat on history and elitism even when the football was bad. That stubborn elitism is gone. It's now a corporate entity with the Big 10 brand on it. I don't think anyone in that conference, administration or fans, wanted those teams, but their hand was forced. Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska, USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon. That doesn't scream Big 10 to anybody.
Along those lines, it's basically been crickets chirping from the major B1G media. And that's reflective of the overall fan sentiment which basically seems to be, "Why are we adding those teams?"

There's really no enthusiasm among fans for adding UO & UW.

Maybe my tin foil hat is on, but this feels like beginning of the narrative that some of these conferences should shed dead weight. It’s a power play to highlight that all are not created equal, and some members might actually be dragging down the reputation/prestige/profitability/whatever of the conference.

We can all point and laugh at Rutgers for sucking. They’ve not made the most of their investment. There’s plenty of other Realignment immigrants that have underachieved relative to their resources: Texas A&M, Mizzou, Colorado, NEBRASKA. Others like TCU and Utah have overachieved.

I guess my point is with Stew’s piece is that the media starts tossing nuggets like this out and the freeloaders in each conference might start looking over their shoulder. It’s messy to kick out a team, but unequal revenue is the next frontier. When companies need to boost profits, they often make cuts when revenue is expected to stay the same or fall. Why would conferences be any different?

Yeah, another future realignment post. Hope the conferences stop at 20 teams. 20 teams is still way too much but here goes:

Big 10: North Carolina, Miami (20 teams)
SEC: Virginia Tech, NC State, Florida State, Clemson (20 teams)
Big 12: Pittsburgh, Louisville (18 teams)

Additional Big 12 possibilities:
1. Virginia (not super passionate about football but good in basketball, academics, new territory)
2. Duke (see Virginia above but worse football but better basketball)
3. Syracuse (bridge to UConn, good basketball brand, help obtain NYC)
4. UConn (big basketball brand, help obtain NYC)

I know Yormark really wants NYC but think it would Virginia and Duke. Virginia to add to the Cincy, Louisville, WVU, Pittsburgh (and Duke) region.

Everybody has penciled in Virginia to the Big 10 but I left them out for Miami to get Big 10 into Florida. If Big 10 goes above 20 teams, yeah, Virginia (and Georgia Tech) are in.

Hate leaving Central Florida on an island but not sure what can be done unless USF builds up their brand.

I think that is where the conferences will go at some point, but I don’t think they will kick a team out, the big teams will just leave for a new conference

President Crow and AD Ray Anderson can't even get a victory lap interview correct.

1)They didn't even call a press conference, they answered some improptu questions against what appeared to be a storage shed of sorts by the practice field. From a handful of homer reporters lobbing softballs that would make the CR Gazette blush.

2)Crow was still talking up the Apple deal, as if he actually wanted to take it. He never actually said anything negative about the deal, instead we got his boomer hand movements trying to explain to us how technology works lol.

3)Crow admitted he had never personally even spoken to the Big 12 until 10:30am Friday when Oregon and Washington didn't show up to their emergency President's meeting. He explicitly claims He and Anderson did not make the decision to leave until they got stood up "2 schools". (Obviously UO and UW)

4) AD Ray Anderson said he will NOT being going to Morgantown. He will assign that to his deputy AD. Weird comment. Crow and Anderson looked at each other and laughed after he said it.

5)Anderson and Crow only took offense to any suggestion they didn't do enough to save the Pac12??? Crow said they were Pac12 stalwarts that fought for pac12 until the last ditch. Also a weird flex and pretty tone deaf to the fact that everyone and I do mean everyone saw the writing on the wall well before Friday morning.

6)Crow mentioned one time he is an ISU grad who threw javelin in Ames. Didn't feel the need to say anything positive about his ISU connection other than the passing mention that ISU was graced with his presence years ago .

The more I read about this Crow guy the more I dislike him and embarrassed that he has ISU connections. Not only did he get his BA from ISU he taught there for three years. Sounds to me like he owes a lot to ISU so not sure why he's bashing on coming to the Big XII. Must have been some bad dorm or frat hazing? Reading his bio you'd think he was a smart guy but sounds more like a pompous smart ass. He's self-credited for creating the 'New American University' which looks to me like just basically lowering/changing admission standards to increase enrollment. Also claims to be a 'knowledge enterprise architect' and 'science and technology policy scholar'. Evidently these are real things but researching this gives you a headache trying to figure out what they actually are; but he's not an architect and he's not a scientist either. Probably threw the javalin like a girl.

It was truly comical listening to him in awe of streaming sports.

ESPN+ has had those same "23rd Century, Star Trek" features for quite awhile now. The guy comes off as a complete idiot. He's probably the only person on the planet who thought the Apple TV/PAC deal was a good one.

The Big 10 is 100% taking Virginia. Idk about Miami but I think them, Florida State, and Clemson go to the SEC. They'll have to bring one more to get to 20 teams but idk who that'll be. Big 12 gets Pitt, NCST, Louisville and VT.

Colorado didn’t exactly light up the Pac 12 at 27-76 either, yet they were the domino (after USCLA) that brought down the curtains.

It’s all about making the money work with the tools currently at your disposal. The Big 10 successfully did that when they added MD and Rutgers. If you need a wing and the best one out there is Kyle Kouzma you make the deal because Klay Thompson isn’t available. ITs not about the best move, it’s about the best move you can make.

I’m really enjoying the complete skull-cracklings so many people in the “media” have taken over this while twitter randos, podcasters, and non-traditional media outlets have been and will continue to gain more traction.

You can actually download high-resolution pictures of him from his bio website and also his Curriculum Vitae (updated monthly no less)! So on top of everything else, he's a narcissist! :puke:

They find a way to holgram this stuff into Jack Trice and every game can be a home game.
