Do Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland get equal shares currently? I know they did not to begin with.
I'm not 100% on that. I think MD and Rutgers took a partial share for a set number of years and the B10 paid their ACC buyout. Nebraska may have been in a similar situation.

IMO, it's a little different when it's the new guy taking a partial share for a bit vs a systematic tiering system that's ongoing (until it's changed).

Apple's proposal to the PAC sucked, but it would be nice to get Apple to the table. There needs to be more media buyers. FOX cannot be happy that they are being asked to choke down ASU/UU, plus step up on the B1G package with CBS/NBC. ESPN cannot be happy they are being asked to choke down ASU/UU while listening to FSU squawk about its ACC deal over ten years out from renewal.

Wonder if we could get ESPN to offload the Tier 3 rights to the CW like ACC did.

I think Nebraska is, and has for a little while now. Maryland and Rutgers may be close; I think they were on a longer vesting schedule though. I would at least expect all of them to have a full share when the new media deal starts.

It is kinda funny to think about have over ten years ago uneven revenue sharing was a common reason teams cited for leaving. Now ten years later teams in the ACC are mad they have even revenue sharing. Just shows you that greed is the official driver of modern college football.

The lesson is that human nature has never changed. A lesson for sports, business, politics, etc

With rumblings that the ACC's demise may get sped up, no way you reach for UConn now. Can have a discussion in a few years about their worthiness compared to Pitt, VTech, Louisville, and NC State
If the Big12 can add corner 4 now, do it.

Why doesn't the Big12 give UConn the ND deal.
  1. Add UConn sports except FB.
  2. Add Gonzaga.
  3. UConn FB remains independent, Big12 agrees to schedule 4 non-con games annually against UConn over remainder of current Big12 TV contract.
  4. If TV folks are willing to pay UConn full share in 2031, then add UConn as full member.
Obviously, if the ACC unravels before 2031, there may be an opportunity to add UConn earlier.

Something like this could work.

Read that to mean, "What's the lowest number we can get you to jump at?"
Of course they are. The Big10 media deal doesn't have a pro-rata clause for new adds thus it will take money out of the current members coffers.
They need to find a way to make up potentially 70 mil per school added. I seriously doubt any of the schools would be cool with losing 15 million per year and adding travel expenses if ORWA is added as full members. (or more if Stanford/CA too). even at a reduced share AD's will need some convincing to take a 5 mil hit per year.
Same for #15&16 in the Big 12 if Fox doesn't want to pay. I doubt any of our schools would be cool with dropping our 31.7 payout to under 30 mil just to add a desperate team. I am very curious if Fox doesn't step up if the other schools are accepted only at a reduced share. (ESPN's pro rata of 20 mil.)

Personally I want every good TV market and "cool kid" fan base that socks at football so that ISU can continue to build our brand. Look at Iowa's perception. It's based on wins, nobody cares that it's Purdue, Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Rutgers, Maryland and directional state schools.
Also Arizona seems like solid recruiting area for ISU.

Utah has been growing but water issues could easily hinder future growth.
It should. I watched 60 minutes this past Sunday.

Over building homes in the desert is like building homes on the beach. Sooner or later you are going to run out of water. Just like sooner or later you are going to be hit by a hurricane.

Yea no thanks I'm not putting Kale and Spinach on my Taco's and Hamburgers. Roman lettuce is a waste though I'm looking at you Wendy's.

Romaine: crunchy, flashy, tasty = Oregon
Spinach: more 'good for you' than 'good' = Washington
Lettuce: ok, better than not having it = ASU
Kale: bitter, pompous, recently trendy = Utah
Arugula: weird, gross, is it just a garnish? = Cal

and now you know we have reached peak realignment thread time

I honestly can see this happening leading up to the next media cycle. B12 will add 2-4 ACC teams based on that shakeout, and if they only grab 2 that would probably lead to a couple bball schools being added.

That doesn't truly solve UConn's football problem and makes all the costs for their other sports explode. The only way they're leaving the Big East, at this point, is to save football. This doesn't do that.
