ESPN puts the junk games on ESPN+, to get the die hards to subscribe? That's a guess.
There is probably that flexibility in the non-con. But once it gets to the 5 or 6 conference games, pretty sure the tier rights determines based on ESPN or FOX selection order.

Omg I missed this one from Clownzano:

“The PAC is playing a short game…UCLA might get tired of the TRAVEL and want to come back around 2029”

How can anyone take this guy seriously?
Yeah, when's the last time a business said we'll take $25M (being generous) vs. $65M?

Never! He might as well be waiting for pigs to fly.

Holy hell it was almost impossible to get through that Canzano interview. Everything he says around basically “fake news” and people are just acting with an agenda…ummm…so you Mr. Canzano?

And good lord his SMU talk was the cherry on top:

1. TV markets! (Welcome to 2023 not 2010 *******)
2. Their donors would pay their way in and SMU would take no money for at least a year or more. Holy **** that would be stupid.
3. Didn’t you all know media deals are made due to a school’s NIL collective.

There’s even more on the SMU chat, but there’s so much more to go through in that chat that makes this guy sound like a clown. I don’t think the PAC loses anybody this round, which ticks me off because these PAC people have been unbearable and I don’t want the elitist d bags to have any last laugh.

But wow there is so much grasping at straws in that podcast. Also if the deal is a layup to be on par with the Big 12 and likely to beat the deal the Big 12 has…where is it?

Does clownzano realize the easiest way for UCLA to reduce it’s travel expenses is to have Oregon and Washington join the big 10?

Don’t forget (like all the PAC dorks do) that USC and UCLA are GONE

I said it directly a couple (dozen) times, there's only room for one of the PAC B12 and ACC. Pac looks bad, ACC will get stripped in the next 10 years, the B12 will continue to solidify their standing as the 3rd and only conference. All of the time slots afforded to the PAC and ACC will end up in the BIG, SEC and B12. We could end up with more of each conference pushing our value up further. It sure would be good If we could convice Clemson, Miami, Florida State or other big time program to join the big 12 as potentially an easier path to the playoff. Regardless I like where we are NOW hoping for much more turmoil and distain in th PAC and ACC.

One problem with this theory is that if your prediction comes true you start getting very close to super league territory. I have been anti super league forever and still don’t think it will happen (might just be hope) but if the P5 legit just becomes the P3, not in name but in reality, the concept of a P2 super league gets very real very fast.

Logic like this truly confounds me. Using Seattle to Chicago/L.A.: while 'distance' to L.A. is shorter, the actual commute time is only 1 hour longer to fly to Chicago (plus time difference). That, pretty much is scalable in expense. All other travel expense (eg to/from airport, baggage, hotels, etc) should be comparable. Except 'equipment' trucks. I don't know the details of those, but could be convinced to alter my stance if those costs are prohibitive. Heck, there probably is a model where equipment can be 'stored' at an east coast or midwest hub instead of trucking it everywhere.
So, all this talk about substantial costs is small relative to the increase in media dollars. There must be a better argument to add 'travel partners'. And the only one is increased media 'income'. I'd be shocked if the B1G is salivating UNLESS the 'vision' is a P2 with a pre-determined number of teams so they're able to split off. Thus 'forcing' them (B1G) to take a reduced per team to guarantee that vision. But, I don't see how that vision will succeed.

You know another way to make the travel expenses not a big deal? Tripling your media right deal. They are already regularly paying to ship people up to the Washington and Oregon schools. The costs to add that extra airfare is negligible compared to the money and exposure they are now getting.

Is that additional travel good for the non revenue athletes? Nah but no one seems to be worried about that anyways.

Btw the time zone changes are going to make for some very interesting results.

I don’t see a future where anyone turns down the Big Ten or SEC for the Big 12 but I agree that the ACC and Pac are dead men walking, with the ACC possibly a decade out. The networks are going to cut out a good chunk of the bloat and use the Big 12 and expanded playoff to home the rest of their desired markets nationally and avoid anti-trust litigation.

That and if theres voting among conferences, it will be slanted BIG/SEC especially with 3. Maybe there needs to be 4 I don't know how that works? Maybe The B12 needs to develop an independent league intertwined. Pull ND, Ohio St, Mich, Bama, GA etc.

I’m super confused by what you are suggesting
