Canzano with his daily PAC10 fluffed piece.

Some interesting numbers on the school breakdown if evenly distributed (32 mil per) or unequally distributed (38-27).

Lot of projection here. I personally think the Big 12 will be getting 40+ per.

And yes he purposes the PAC10 should expand and implies it should poach the Big12 (again).

Trying his best to speak all this into existence.

People can't get it... we were told either quit or get fired.
I dont get it, because Oregon, still keeps theirs with 1/5 the research expenditure, and without a Med school and also without an Engineering school. The 2 most important in AAU. Oregon is WAY below ISU in metrics for AAU, but they have no issues keeping it.

Oregon, basically has underwater basket weaving, sports management and art history for majors and thats about it.

Yeah, but have you looked at Ivy League endowments, or NU, Chicago, Stanford
But but but, State money. please. Like Michigan is getting $Billions from the state of Michigan. Get real. All that money is NIH and private funding.

You should ask someone from AAU.
Why, Im asking the people here that are saying all the reasons, yet none make sense when other schools still in AAU have far worse stats in those areas than ISU.

So if someone says its because we dont have a Med school, I say neither does Oregon, and they also dont have an Engineering school.

If someone says our research expenditure is too low, I ask then why is Oregon's ok when theirs is the lowest of all AAU and 1/5 of ISU's.

If someone says its about state money, I say then why can private schools be AAU, when they get NO state money.

I dont need to ask someone from AAU, I need to debunk the people here that are saying things that arent true. Or at least ask the people that seem to think they know the answer but those answers dont make sense compared to others in AAU.

ISU, chose to leave, and they knew there would be blow back, so they are using some excuses. Is there some truth to their excuses, probably, but was it still doable, it should have been considering others are still in the AAU that have much worse stats.

I gave the reasons why Nebby was booted, which were/are completely true...

"The AAU dumped Nebraska essentially for two reasons.
First, the University of Nebraska’s medical school is at its Omaha campus, not the flagship campus in Lincoln. So, any federal research dollar, premier faculty member and publication in a prestigious journal from the medical school couldn’t be counted toward Nebraska’s AAU status.
Second, the university focuses heavily on agriculture research, a priority for a land grant institution. But in the eyes of the AAU, most agricultural research is not peer-reviewed, competitive research, so it is “not considered as highly,” AAU spokesman Barry Toiv said, compared with medical and economic research."

I realize that the revenue sharing scenarios are just a discussion exercise.

But I wouldn't be excited with Thompson's uneven split if I were Arizona. 1 less point bumps them to bottom tier & $4.6M less than middle tier.

But it's interesting to see where an industry insider ranks schools. CU being so low stands out.

Yes, I know why Neb was booted. That is different as to why ISU left.

ISU left, and I just dont think the excuses used are hold a lot of weight. Could they have eventually lost the membership, sure...But if they did, AAU would have to vote out multiple members at same time or before they voted out ISU for those reasons stated, because there are other members that are/were well below ISU in the things mentioned.

ISU left because there was no longer a benefit of maintaining membership, and needed an excuse to tell the people that cared.

I do wonder if there were discussions with the B1G in some way the year prior with OUT happening, and we were told that B1G would not be interested in ISU in any way regardless of AAU affiliation, or that AAU affiliation would have no bearing on whether or not they would be interested in ISU. And with that it became no longer worth the headache to maintain. And because ISU is not going to come out and say we talked to the B1G and they told us that, they came up with another excuse.

There are more benefits to AAU affiliation than the hope of a B1G invite. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I have a hard time believing ISU decided to relinquish its AAU affiliation on its own just because it no longer believed in the AAU mission. Right or wrong, it's still viewed as a pretty prestigious credential for any school. Oregon and others may very well be on the verge of losing their affiliation as well.

I mean if my job depended on it I guess I’d do the same, PAC is dead and no team from our conference is going west. Big 12 is more valuable.

AZ isn’t far behind. And maybe that’s why Arizona is the school most on board, followed by Colorado and Arizona State is against it. Colorado’s saving grace is being a former Big8/12 member. I’d still take them over Oregon St and Washington St. Their value can also change in the Big12 and central/eastern time zones.

People actually working for ESPN, Fox, Amazon and so on may also value them different in the Big12 than a former Fox executive as well. The B1G values Rutgers more than any other conference would.
