ESPN and Fox I’m assuming don’t give a **** about this though?
I believe the original question was how one vs the other moves the needle academically. The Big 10 absolutely will elevate your academics

Just do it like the WCC with auto bye's for top 2 to semi's or something.I like this and honestly top to bottom it would be more than competitive with Big Ten football. I'm not convinced more cash is going to make Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska etc, into juggernauts and there are teams in that Big 12 that would/could be.
I was wondering about a basketball conf tourney that's like a Champions League where it's the top 8 so you're not burning out your champ...rather than those weird structures where a low seeded team would have to play 5-6 games to go all the way. Your mid or low tier tournament would also be able to add wins to resume to help bubble.
slight disagreement there- Miami does not still have a huge fan base. Arguably they never did. Miami is like USC in that locally there is some apathy but they are still a name the rest of the nation cares about. A good FSU-Miami matchup will be watched by casual college football fans.
Also a good amount of BIG fans in FL/Miami
"Unwanted teams". For some reason, every time I see or hear about ISU and the Big 12 being unwanted I think of the Land of Misfit Toys.Yup. If the Big Ten or even the SEC wanted KU or say OSU, they would be gone already. I hope this is understood by the rest of the Big 12 to stop shopping around and accept we are the unwanted teams by the Power 2 but we can easily be the #3 conference. We have UT and OU by the balls to pay through their teeth for leaving but that is only if the conference stays together. Go get the best of the Pac and ACC leftovers and we have an awesome conference that will still make more money than the schools know to do with it.
Arizona seems the most pro Big12. Their 247 guy basically calling the ACC tv idea stupid.ASU, Arizona and Colorado message boards basically on board.
But if it makes them more than it costs them, then it still makes sense.Wouldn't this be incredibly dumb for ESPN to do, considering they have those teams locked up currently for a long term at a fixed price and them leaving the ACC for the SEC would ultimately cost ESPN more?...
I really think Stanford and Cal would love to be in the Ivy League if they don't get the B1G call.Arizona seems the most pro Big12. Their 247 guy basically calling the ACC tv idea stupid.
Colorado fans seem to see the Big12 as the best option and not bad returning to Big12 rivals with Pac12 rivals.
ASU fans seem interested in Big12, but they talk like their presidents/ADs will try anything to stay in the Pac even with less money.
Utah is harder to get a read on. Some of their people still have hope of a B1G dream that everyone else knows isn't going to happen. Some are ok trying to keep the Pac alive. Some think the Big12 with BYU would be entertaining.
Washington is quieter. They actually have some hope of the B1G, but they aren't loud about it like Oregon. Seeing a few posts about joining the Big12.
Oregon is dead set on B1G, if not SEC, if not keep the band together. Their 247 guy is relentlessly against the Big12. I don't see why any Pac team would trust Oregon to stay when they so adamantly want out, just not to the Big12.
Other less relevant to the Big12:
Stanford appears to be B1G or Pac. Sounds like they'd try to go indy or drop football before associating with the Big12.
OreSt/Wazzu want to keep the Pac alive because it's their only hope. All the Big12 reports have them feeling like the MWC is inevitable for them.
I really think Stanford and Cal would love to be in the Ivy League if they don't get the B1G call.
Twitter, Reddit, 247, Cyclone Fanatic, repeat
The Ivy cares about prestige. Getting Stanford and, arguably, the best public school in the country would really matter to them.Since the Ivy League still cares about students, not sure how it would feel about flying them cross country for competitions. But Stanford and Berkeley definitely fit the academic profile.
Let's hypothetically say these are the moves:
B1G: USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Notre Dame
SEC: UVA, UNC, Clemson, FSU
What teams do you add to Big 12 and how big do you go? Those moves power 2 to 20 each.
I'd say let's go to 20 as well with 8 invites:
AZ/ASU/Utah/Colorado (the mountain 4 everyone is talking about)
Miami
Pitt
Georgia Tech
Va Tech
On deck: Cal, Louisville, NC State, Duke,
Big 12 becomes coast to coast except no new england and no pacific northwest.
This. I don't love the financial gap between SEC/B10 and us but $50mil/year will be plenty to still compete for titles. The lesson learned is that there is no such thing as an “Alliance”. There are no friendly Conferences. There are no friends. The Big 12 is most stable of the non-P2. Those schools understand they are wanted by no one else. As a collective group they provide the best opportunity for their mutual benefit. The Big 12 will be the #3 Conference. Time for the decision to be part of the #3 or become a newer version of the Mountain West.
Extremely doubtful unless people only watch SEC sports on TV. If that is their viewing profile then sure but otherwise that isn’t happening. Also unless it’s changed if you have ESPN+ you actually don’t get access to normal espn contentWith ESPN pretty much going exclusive with the SEC, would certain people maybe keep ESPN+ but dump streaming services like Youtube TV and other streaming conglomorates like Sling and Hulu Live to go to more ala carte therefore hurting the amount of TVs paying for ESPN?
