I would imagine Oregon's status is the question that every national sports journalist in the country is trying to answer right now.
Oregon and Washington are both big schools for whoever lands them. If the B1G valuation is now over $100M per school though, I don't see either of them increasing that. But a P12 w/o USC and UCLA is going to be a huge hit for them and there's no one they could add that would help them outside of the B12. It's time for the B12 to make a move on the best of what's available from the P12. Start with the Arizona schools, Utah, and Colorado. At that point, you put the others in a tough spot. You may get them to come along as well, and that would be a huge coup for the league.

They could just go to all conference games and those would take the place of the current pre-conference games. Don’t need to have the big time pre-con games anymore either. Oregon vs tOSU will be a conference game and $$$$ straight to the conference.

You'd think it would go that way but SEC seems to love playing less game and scheduling their nap weeks late in the year to make sure they don't get a loss before playoffs. (pssssst: this is smart and not breaking any rules)

You knew last year that USC and UCLA were joining the Big 10 in 2024?

Wow. Impressive.
I mean you can look at my history Ive been saying it on here for the last month repeatedly that it was coming. I have been on Reddit as well saying the same and everyone kept telling me I was crazy....well here we are.

The more I think about it I hate all of this. It's just a crazy mix of teams and no conference culture.

How do the tier rights work in this world?

Just give me some sweet Maction and late late night WWC.
I don't think you're alone. I know basketball doesn't move the needle but I probably watch just as much Big East as B12.

If the B1G adds USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington.... and the Big 12 adds Cincy, Houston, BYU, UCF, Utah, and Colorado..... here's how those teams finished in last years final AP Poll......

4. Cincy
12. Utah
17. Houston
19. BYU
22. Oregon

None of the other teams even got a single vote for the top 25. In fact, when was the last time UCLA or Washington was any good at all? USC hasn't been that good forever either it feels like.

Now I'm not saying I'd rather be adding those teams to the Big 12, based on brand alone, but the teams the Big 12 are adding are no slouches whatsoever. Oh.... and they all finished above Iowa too.

There's bound to be some winners win and losers lose culture that gets built up and engrained. Indiana and Rutgers aren't suddenly going to be better at football than Baylor and OK State and Utah.

In the early days of the BCS before the MWC got raided the top half of the MWC was clearly better than much of the Big East and ACC.

That'll happen again to some extent. I really have no idea how the third tier of conferences (what was called group of 5) will stack up. How big are the gaps between these three tiers? The Sun Belt used to be a total joke but the past few years some teams were getting very solid.

Stop saying Utah. We already have BYU. Washington, Oregon, Cal, & Arizona State. We are a force to be reckoned with again.
It's a good fallback but not a SEC/B1G level force.

I’m licking my chops about the possibility of going to ASU every other year depending on how divisions work out (and if they come of course).

I plan to snowbird in AZ when I retire as well so it would be awesome for the future.

That's Rutgers to Big Ten era thinking.

We aren't selling a cable network.

Utah is probably the 4th best team available and better than some teams we just added. They give the best team we just added a historic rival in conference.

Unless streaming goes away you add Utah. Unless Utah stops being the fastest growing state in the US you add Utah. You add the teams that bring the biggest brands and biggest eyeballs, we aren't in position to turn down Utah. They bring more real eyes than Washington St or Oregon St and are a better fit.

Non revenue sports taking charter flights all over the freaking country instead of playing the programs at similar sized schools right next to them is terrifically stupid. It sets a horrible example for sustainability and is just a waist of money, it exposes how stupid the "non profit" nature of all this has become.

As a casual college wrestling fan it seems like a sport that could benefit from sort of open format rather than these far flung conferences. I'm sure all the non revenue sports I don't follow at all are the same way.

I understand and agree, but if the football wasn’t bringing in the revenue, those other programs wouldn’t exist beyond club sports. It’s a necessary evil in the world of capitalism.

The Athletic has a good article. They are making it sound like the B12 is now the third conference and is in a solid spot. Even a Louisville to B12 option.
Also said Dabo better be screaming at the AD to call the SEC now.
They aren't high on the ACC or PAC now.

I forgot that CBS used to have a lot of games.

How do the tiers work in this new age?
CBS held the SEC contract for years. they will soon be out of CFB. I see them making a big push to get back in. CBS/Paramount is still on the table, and not currently holding any cards.

Even if we get those 4, we still say yes to Utah and Colorado.

This isn't the old days where having one team in a state means you get no additional value from another. Utah more than justifies itself in the big 12.

Last time the B1G won a title in men's basketball? 2000
Last time in football? 2014. But only two since 2000, and both were tOSU.

But this is considered a SUPER conference? Okay.
