I read this and all I picture is Survivor where individuals or groups talk to each other numerous times to try to hammer out alliances and who gets voted out. lol
B1G takes Oregon, Washington, Cal, Stanford, Notre Dame and Kansas
SEC takes Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia, Duke and Miami
There's 2 22-team leagues with Georgia Tech, NC State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and West Virginia on the waiting list if they want to go 24.
And then it will be interesting if WVU and UCF and maybe Cincinnati decide to go join the ACC remnants. Depends on who’s still around.
The B1G could add UVA and UNC at the same time the SEC adds those other schools. Then maybe the Big-Pac-12 will be in a position to absorb some of them. Who knows.
One thing that always kills me with most major college athletics stories like this is that a single reporter breaks the news, and literally within minutes dozens more reporters "can confirm" the story, and not an hour later there are stories on every major sports site about how this has been in the works for months, apparently right under the noses of all these reporters whose sources confirmed everything at the exact same moment.

So this obviously has been factored into the new B1G media rights deal that they've been hammering out the past few months. Pretty unreal they were able to keep this news from leaking.
Big 12 merging with the Pac-12 is a must now. We would dominate West of the Mississippi. That's 1/3 of the US population.

The good news is that this is obviously about the welfare of student athletes and not money like they've said all along.
I wonder if we would be better off not having added the new 4 schools....if we were at 8 we could just merge with the Pac 10 and be 18 total....but then I suppose you risk the Pac 10 taking a couple Big 12 schools.

No because WVU is you know, in WV. Where as penn state is in Penn. Kinda like MSU and Michigan claim the Detroit market even though they aren't in the city.

We would be better off now without them, but I'm not sure that those eight teams survive together over this last year without that expansion. We would probably be the ones being picked further apart by the pac 12, and that wouldn't guarantee ISU a seat at the table
This. Why take only Utah, Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State? Take them all. We absolutely should not turn down the chance to throw a life saver to Oregon, Stanford, etc.
I get it but it just seemed like kind of the weakest flex possible seeing as the Big 10 is on the verge of dropping a nuclear bomb on college sports.
