Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

That is an interesting statement. The presidents employ them. Why do you feel the presidents are not 100% for there ability to consolidate all the money. The directors are just the willing front man to this band.
ESPN and Fox have far more to lose (with increased rights fees and loss of CFB P4 TV share) with media rights pooling than what the SEC/B10 Presidents would. Which is why ESPN/Fox is exerting far more pressure on Sankey/Petitti than what their Presidents are and that influence from ESPN/Fox overrides that from their Presidents.

Dodd thinks (it’s a long thread) the SEC and Big Ten’s study is an implicit acknowledgment that Campbell’s goal isn’t a fantasy. not trying to ruffle feathers here, just another view on things

LOL, I'm sorry but I have been hearing about the feds swooping in to save the day since I was a young man watching Mizzou run around throwing their panties at anyone with a bigger bank account.

If there is one thing I can ever feel certain of, it is that the government is not going to come in and turn things upside down to look out for the little guy. The rich getting richer isn't a bug in modern America's function, it is a feature.

Sidestepping a larger political and philosophical discussion, I would argue that this is not a matter of self-interest, that it's not the federal government wanting to be a champion of "the little guy"—tax revenue doesn't increase because East Carolina has a solid football team. The reality is simply that decades of inaction by the NCAA have boiled the issue down to one of trusts and legal classification, which are things athletic departments and universities can't work out themselves. I completely understand doubting that anything will come of it. But I don't think we can completely dismiss members of the federal government acknowledging the issues in question

More from Louisville:

I've shared this a few times over the years, but since OuT announced they were leaving the big 12, its been obvious to me that we are on a freight train express to: collective bargaining, employee status, breakaway from NCAA governance, salary cap, contracts, buyouts… so exactly the pro sports model.

I've yet to see anything that changes my mind in 4 or 5 years, in fact nearly everything confirms it including this.

Do you really think this guy would be singing the same tune if Louisville were in the position of tOSU or Georgia? I know my answer.

Exactly! Until I read/hear this message from someone in the know that reps a Big10/SEC school...meaningless! The guy might be right...but nothing is going to change until the "concerns" come from within the P2!

Ok Hawk.

We already have seen the BS anti-SBA conclusions from the ESPN and Fox puppet boys so not sure what your point is here.

None of the proposed Fed Legislation has athletes as employees and the vast majority of athletes don’t want to be employees.

It won't be legislated. That determination is likely going to come from a judge, and be escalated to the Supreme Court.
How can it not be legislated and enacted by a judge? I thought it was a proposed bill that would have to go before Congress.

You didn't answer my question. If Louisville were in the SEC or B1G do you think they'd be complaining?
Already answered your question since Sankey and Petitti spoke on behalf of ESPN/SEC and Fox/B10.

And the Louisville Trustee isn’t complaining, he rightfully called the Sankey/Petitti sanctioned report BS.

You did? I missed that. If Louisville were in the B1G or SEC would this trustee be out there supporting the SAFE initiative and calling the B1G/SEC report BS?

If ISU were in the B1G or SEC would you be campaigning this hard for the SAFE initiative?
