Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Seriously, you need to tone down the Cody Campbell worship, its gotten a bit weird. The fact that every idea he comes up with is the greatest thing ever dreamed to you and you fail to at least acknowledge why he wants to do any of it, is more of the issue than anything else.
Seriously, your simple mind is overly warped on Campbell.

He is not the one who initially recognized that amending the SBA to enable media rights pooling would at least double media revenues for all of FBS.

He is far from the only one who recognizes that realignment has evolved into a clustereff of oversized and needless geographically dispersed conferences that would be best be optimized with 7x10 and are for the sole benefit of ESPN and Fox.

And while it is widely known that he is a Trump supporter, his efforts in DC has actually aligned him with both parties to the point one of his primary allies now is female Dem Senator who hopefully can get a modified SCORE Act (with the SBA amendment and other "save sports" initiatives) passed in both Houses.

Do you think the 7x10 thing will actually happen?

Oh so Im the one with the simple mind? You have been a broken record on here for months about this BS.

You might need to check your attitude a bit. Great way to win your argument is to resort to insults, doesnt help your case.

The fact is 98% of what your pushing is pure fantasy. Whats worse is its fantasy of the guy that is actually hurting college sports by buying teams with insane NIL BS. Its sad you actually believe he is doing any of it for the benefit of anyone other than himself and TT.

Another example of B10/Fox destruction of Washington State:

Just a short-term hiccup. Everything will be fine in the new Pac12. ;)

Plus there is a reason WSU wasn't added by Big12 or ACC. And a picture is worth a 1000 words.

Just as schools like SMU, TCU, UU, etc have ascended over last 30 years. It's natural some legacy schools in P5 would/will be relegated.

As much as you tend not to believe, there isn't unlimited media cash to make 70 schools happy. So just a matter of time before we see 3 tiers of CFB conferences. And the big question is the top tier 36, 40 or 48 schools.

I mean, we already are kind of there, just not "officially"

As far as money, media promotion and narrative, etc.

Its the P2, the Second tier P2, and the G6.

Oh yeah. Evanston is waaaay more in the Big 12's geographic footprint than the B1G's.

Lol.
Hey if your mind doesn’t immediately think of Colorado state, Kansas state, and Utah as peer institutions of Northwestern that’s a you problem lol

Cody Campbell's entire goal here is to make enough noise that the SEC decides it's cheaper to invite Tech than it is to deal with all the legislation and lobbying.

And if he's so into having guardrails and making everything equal, how come he spent multiple millions of dollars on a softball roster right before the new 'rules' went into place?

So what are his very bad ideas?

Media rights pooling with 7x10 realignment would double or triple existing media revenues for all of FBS and end the dysfunctional BS that exists with the existing footprints of the B12, B10 and ACC. And the dysfunctional BS breeds idiotic proposals from the Fox Puppet, Pettiti, for a 24 team CFB with no conference champs. And the root cause for that dumbass proposal are the oversized conferences that only benefit ESPN and Fox and raise the risk of additional financial and competitive relegation for the likes of ISU and 20-25 other schools at the end of the decade.

And even Sparty and the UNI boy know that one legacy B10 school would have to leave to make it work and NW would be the logical choice.
I'll give you one thing, you sure know how to cut & paste what CC believes protects TT.

What's misplaced in his argument.
  1. 70 teams doesn't maximize revenue for the top 32-40ish teams.
  2. It doesn't take pooling revenue to maximize revenue for individual conferences.
  3. Media companies don't print money. So the 2-3x rights increases are BS. You believe only ESPN & FOX televise games. But last I saw CBS, NBC, TNT and CW also paid market rates to televise games under current media rights deals.

You are naive if you think Congress will work together to pass MEANINGFUL legislation. They are much, much more likely to bungle things than fix college sports.

Name one significant piece of legislation passed by Congress since ACA?

You are completely wrong on all 3 here.

LOL on the initial hot take, you’re falling for other simpletons’ unfounded fear on this.

On you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about regarding TT softball. John Sellers and his wife spent the money on the softball roster. And regarding Campbell’s spending Pre-House on TT football, he openly admits he took adavantage of that Pre-House opportunity just like LSU, Indiana, etc. did.

I've asked you I think 3 times now and you haven't answered.

Do you think that what you're talking about with the 7x10 thing will actually happen?

Yeah, there is a good chance of it happening. Presidents have to get on the same page and stand up to the Fox and ESPN puppet boys who don’t want pooling and rational realignment. And given the puppet boys want SCORE passed, the only way they get it passed is if they agree to the SBA amendment, pooling and 7x10 to double/triple revenues (which the Presidents should obviously be on board with).

Ok, good to know. You've been on here for I think at least a year or two now talking about them getting rid of current conferences, restructuring, pooling and bidding media rights out NFL style, or something like that, and I haven't caught even a whiff of any of that actually happening. Good to know you're saying it will happen. When can we expect this monumental shift where the B1G and SEC willingly hand over their leverage and power and revenue advantage not to mention the 100+ years of invaluable brand equity they've built into those conference names and programs and voluntarily collapse themselves for the good of everyone else?

Legacy B10 and SEC schools would double/triple their revenues while maintaining revenue advantages over other conferences. Safe to assume that those 20 Presidents would sign up for that and forgo the dysfunction of oversized conferences that benefit only ESPN and Fox and their goal of additional brand consolidation at the expense and destruction of 20-25 more ACC and B12 schools.

Only B10 and SEC knuckledraggers want the status quo to continue into the 2030s.
