Are you kidding about the stock price? If they can't meet the obligations of a contract, they're in a whole lot of trouble. It was no coincidence Disney was considering ESPN separation not too long ago. Interestingly, all these contracts are still hyperbole as none have really been settled and all this movement has been based, more or less, on vapor discussions. But, if the rumors are true ESPN is diving deeper into debt. Let's just put it this way, I in no way would invest in Disney now. I'll humbly eat crow if in 10 years ESPN is making the cash to pay these separation contracts.

I specifically raised the issue of bankruptcy and you said no, that wasn't a concern. So under what other circumstance would Disney be able to avoid their obligation to the Big 12 once they've made us an offer and signed a contract?

Is your source trust me bro?
Nope it’s a couple of people I know that have some pretty decent connections. I trust someone on the inside of said company than anyone who is just throwing things against the wall. People have been clamoring the demise of ESPN and Disney will happen for forever. Yet here they still are. Disneys portfolio is unmatched by anyone. Sure if Apple wanted to just take everything over then that would do it but I don’t think that’s going to be a real thing.

IF the B12 does in fact end up poaching some PAC schools - damn it's gonna feel sooooo good after all these comments from their commissioner and the national media (esp Mandel)

Is there still a real live chance they elect to add teams for the near term? Thats risky for them as there will still be those wanting out but what does that do to the B12, anything? B12 still good while waiting for later blow up and also lingering on the ACC?

Scheer already pointed this out, but watch the B1G contract that will likely come out in August for what piece ESPN got. If ESPN is a major player, it’s not going to overpay for the Pac-12. If the B1G instead froze out ESPN entirely, then it may panic-buy some content.

Its apparent low ball offers to the Pac so far suggest that it is not worried about content. After all, ESPN could broadcast a ton of SEC and ACC games even if the B1G and Big 12 stay away from it.

I can’t see adds like SDSU or Fresno State or somebody like that adding any kind of value to the PAC. Oregon, Washington, Stanford … all still itching at the chance to jump to the B1G if it’s available, and Warren left that prospect open this week.

Yeah I know for a fact this is pretty much all wrong. Disney isn’t going anywhere and will be just fine with these contracts. Trust me.
If you're right and this is a money maker, then I'd expect outside competition (e.g. Apple, Amazon, ...) Don't you agree? So, we'll all see where this is going ... soon.
