Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

That’s the benefit of consolidation imo. You’ll have more reasons to watch more teams, ones that have some tradition with BIG, but not functionally a huge change. Making CFB more national but still based on regional/traditional matchups for most

The BIG will get a bump in CA recruiting and maybe money, for basically an annual trip to CA and the NU types playing late night few times
The recruiting thing is really a non issue. The top teams already recruit nationally. We have 9 4 stars committed and only 2 are from the Michigan (3 are from the midwest). Same breakdown for the other schools. OSU has 17 4/5 stars and they only have 4 in state or from the midwest.

I’ve never heard MSU being considered one of the “top”.

Regardless, it is a P2 world and the BIG is well behind the SEC in this regard. The angle of leveling up recruiting to the SEC is a factor.

My bad wasn't trying to say we were top we just are having a record recruiting class this year. Any school that consistently gets top 20ish recruiting classes is recruiting the whole country already.

Just giving you ****. I considered MSU top. Similar to WI rise in the 90s. gotta keep up with the times

But BIG getting into CA (and hopefully SE) is an equalizer in recruiting and maybe the most important aspect- the south has won basically every title for 20 years.

Would ND or BIG ever go with an ACC-ND type deal? On one hand it would maybe keep ND from joining, but on the other, it could be the precursor needed.

As a Big 12 fan. I'm cheering like heck for CBS and NBC to NOT be apart of the soon the be announced B1G TV package.

I specifically want Paramount (CBS). They have CBS, CBS Sports Network and Paramount Network for linear options, all on Youtube TV and most basic cable packages. CBS has a 24/7 online streaming channel that is REALLY easy to access (free). And they are BY FAR AND AWAY the top network for college basketball. Which the Big 12 is BY FAR the best conference.

From what I have heard ESPN is a non factor for these negotiations. Its Fox, Apple, and NBC in that order.

I mean, Warren thanked Fox alongside BTN in his press conference.

I wouldn’t think Fox has an issue with ESPN chasing BIG, making other networks spend more on the conference.
Imo ESPN likely does want a piece, and if nothing else, makes the buy-in high that more schools being added later is a more difficult sell.

ESPN not spending on BIG and USC/PAC, would mean they have some headroom to make huge moves on the rest of the board imo

I don't think there's any way the B1G settles for the kind of arrangement the ACC has. Mainly because it doesn't have to.

No cure for this level of butthurt.

Remember Stew’s position:

Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC = Good
Rutgers and Maryland to the B1G = Good
TAMU and Mizzou to the SEC = Good
Nebraska to the B1G = Good
Colorado to the Pac = Good

The four corner schools to the Big 12 = the destruction of college football as we know it, and something every red blooded American should oppose

I think it’ll be NBC for the Big 10 but who knows.

Ive thought that ND rather be aligned with ACC all thing equal.

But would they be more open to fully joining BIG had they had a similar deal the last decade as they did with ACC?
