Who you played and where you played makes a difference. Change the opponents and the numbers will change. Take away games against the top 20 above and the team numbers will drop. I have not compared this chart directly to the prior ones from College Sports Info, but the general positioning of the teams seems similar.

Don't forget 'when' you played, what 'channel', and how much promotion was done for the game. The media controls viewership. That's not to say there aren't contingencies worthy of more promotion. But, let's face it, these numbers are a by product of win/loss and media exposure.
Relegation does not work in college football, where development between the time you are an 18 and 23 year old is a large part of the equation. Imagine working your way to the top of a league, and getting promoted with a senior laden team and having to rely on an inexperienced team the next year after they all graduate.

People/institutions develop a hubris thinking something inherit in them is making them great but on reality it's confluence of events. eg. Nebraska football, Hoiberg.
At least Iowa State is in the top 50 for viewership numbers. Just need to keep pumping that number up. If and when I go to a game, I'm going to leave the game on at home just to get viewership numbers.
I wonder how/if illegal streams are factored in to viewership numbers. More eyeballs on the ads they push...

The key there is games where they couldn't find data equaled 0 instead of just not counting the game. Think about cyclonesTV and Longhorn network. We probably had plenty of 0s due to that.
I'm guessing he knew there were issues coming and that is why he went hard at it. Now after the fact, he says he got lucky. He's not just going to say George is bad at his job. He deflects the praise and moves on.
Right. That is a basic, fundamental flaw in this “analysis”
