I wish him nothing but the best. I will forever die on the hill that if he has any ambition of playing at the next level, a position change is required. He could eventually develop into a solid college QB, but that athleticism translates to other positions.
I was never questioning whether the kid will be alright in North Philly, I was comparing the two cities. Let's not kid ourselves that Temple isn't smack dab in the middle of one of those most dangerous parts of the city. I lived in City Center and loved Philly, but North Philly and Ames are dramatically different. I have no doubt that he will do just fine in Philly and will have success.
The worst part, the Badlands isn't really that close to campus. I think it starts two stations north of Cecil B. There's definitely poor areas and public housing right off campus, but it's definitely safe. You can avoid anything pretty easily by staying around campus and taking the subway or Uber/Lyft to Center City, South Philly, NoLibs, Fishtown, etc.
You're just saying a lot of BS that people wildly overstate, especially as Avenue of the Arts, Center City, and Fishtown/Kensington keeps blending into campus more each year.
Agree, however the best way to get noticed by the next level might be to have the ball in your hands every snap.
Didn't go next level but Austin Flynn played very well in his short stint as a wideout, and was extremely good in the slot.

Temple is a good school that is making a positive impact on North Philly.
I hate to steer the topic away from Philadelphia crime rates, but @jhg do you see a road map to Re-al starting in the near future?
I think it's really gross when people bring up crime as the first thing about Temple when there's so much to celebrate now. Our multi-year APR is 6th behind Northwestern, Stanford, Vandy, Notre Dame and Navy. We have 28 players in the NFL. We've nearly doubled our attendance over the last 11 years--the only program that wasn't borderline FCS level attendance to do so during a time where attendance is almost universally dropping nationally. We've been Bowl eligible for 6 straight years.
He's going to sit behind Anthony Russo this year. Our backup, who is similar physically, but not anywhere near as athletic, transferred to Colorado State. If he is eligible, he would play a good bit, as we utilized our backup for several series a game as well as in running and trick play situations. He has a clear shot to start after Russo graduates. We have three younger QBs from the Carolinas that are talented, but might not fit what our staff is looking for as a starter. In the c/o 2021, we have Jordan Lynch's brother Justin, who is very similar, and was coached by his brother in Chicago.
He played at the end of the West Virginia game. The argument is that you take Purdy off the field; however, with Purdy playing hurt late in the year, I think he could have gotten some plays during those games to give Purdy a break, and get him out there.

He is actually a perfect fit for Temple! They are one of my favorite non-p5 programs and I watch a few of their games every year. I like how they play and they have been putting quite a few kids into the NFL in recent years.
