I’m sorry. But you can’t have a useless and unbelievable fact thread without stating the grandson of the 10th? Yes 10th! President of the United States died in 2020.

Still has one grandson left alive.

This thread is right up my alley:

1. Personal interest, but I was born in 1984...thus 39 now. My birth year was 39 years after WWII ended. Crazy to think about.

2. As the crow flies, the closest distance between Nebraska and Florida is about 750 miles.

3. The star Betelgeuse (in the Orion constellation) is so large if its center was where our current Sun is positioned, its surface would lie beyond the asteroid belt and it would engulf the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.

4. Lake Superior has enough volume of water it could cover North America with 1' of water.

5. The world's longest walking distance is 14,000 miles. You can go from Magadan in Russia to Cape Town in South Africa.

John Tyler, the 10th President of the United States, death was the only presidential death not recognized formally by the United States, as he was a native Virginian, Confederate sympathizer, and recently elected to the confederate house of representatives. His death was recognized by CSA president Jefferson Davis, who planned a lavish funeral, complete with casket draped in confederate flag, making him the only former president not draped with United States flag at their funeral.

In Iowa, its illegal for a man with a moustache to kiss a woman in public. The rule was created to stop the antics of Jack the Lipper, the serial kisser that plagued Iowan women for years

Was reminded of this as I looked out this morning and same a number of the local wild turkey gang perched in tree. A couple up higher than I'd ever seen a turkey.

Not exactly sure.
Interesting facts. More pigs in Iowa than people. #1 in the U.S.

I'm the life of the party with those facts outside of the Midwest when asked about Iowa. A useless fact.
Same for Minnesota and very close for North Carolina.

If the earth was the size of a pool table ball and say all the water drained, you wouldn't be able to feel any of the mountains. It would feel smooth/round all around.

I believe the accepted answer is that Earth is as round as a billiard ball, but not as smooth as one. The dips and peaks would be noticeable to the touch, but it would still be very round.

Don Walsh and Jacques Picard successfully descended to the Challenger Deep (deepest spot in the ocean) in 1960. No one went back until James Cameron in 2012. Only 27 people have ever been down there, almost all of them went in the last 3-4 years.

If Picard can pilot the enterprise, he can dive into that big canyon.
