Also what's everyone's favorite casino games? I feel like this is a group that doesn't gamble much at all though.
Low stakes blackjack. Like wxman, I give up after losing $20-$30. It's more about the conversation than the money. I do like video poker if there's somebody I know playing it next to me.

When you were a kid playing baseball or kickball and had to use ghost runners when you didn't have enough other kids, why was it always assumed that the ghost runners were good base runners? How come nobody ever got stuck with with a chubby ghost runner that wasn't paying attention to the game and got doubled up on a fly ball?
I disagree. Ghost runners were notoriously bad base runners. A ghost runner could never go 2nd to home on a single.

I agreed to let my daughter invite her entire soccer team at our house for a sleepover at the end of the month.

Since I didn't think that was stupid enough, I doubled down and suggested that we also take them to a corn maze at night.

I haven't really thought about how I'm going to keep track of fourteen headstrong 11 year-old girls in a maze in the dark, but I'm pretty sure I will have to create some kind of waiver to protect myself.

Something like:

When I arrive on Sunday to pick up my daughter, if she is not present, I agree to accept another girl of equal or lesser value.

Might want to give some thought to defining "value". Otherwise, depends on the Court. I don't think that flies in Missouri or Kansas, but in WV??

Masses question: When you talk about people your age, what range do you consider to be "your age"? Do you say +/- 1, 5, 10? I feel the older you get the range gets a little wider. I use about 7-8 years on either side of my age. Basically someone who wouldn't have kids closer to my age or be closer to the next generation down.

I agree that the range gets wider as you get older. At my age (33) I think that range is about +/- 3 years. If you go wider (say 5 years), it starts to get a big age difference.

I think it also depends on where you are in terms of marital / family status (i.e. me being single with no kids at 33 has a different range than one of my sisters who was pregnant with her third at about the same age).

Blackjack but I am cheap so if I get down $20 bucks I am done. Also I have only been in a casino twice soooo
I've only been a couple times myself. One time we were on our way back from Canada, and stopped in Sloan, IA (near Sioux City). I was playing the draw poker slots and got a royal flush, with the full complement of quarters deposited. The sirens went off, lights were flashing -- very exciting stuff! The manager comes over and opens the machine to give me my jackpot winnings!

$ 37 and some change.:(o_O

@cyrocksmypants Google says you had to drive right by me......................

Baby can be set down on his activity mat and actually bats at it now. It's adorable. Until he starts squealing because he grabbed a ringy thing and got his hand stuck. I should take that one off but it's kinda funny and he'll eventually grow from the experience, right?

Survived my first day away from baby. Was kinda nice to get out and wear real clothes. DH said they had a nice day. Now if we could work on the sleep thing.

Oh, and coworker texted me when I was coming over to work with her and she's like I have the biggest plate of nachos if you're hungry. I whined to her when I got there.......cause I was hungry, I do love nachos, but no cheese :(:(:(

There has to be irony in not being able to eat dairy at the world's biggest "dairy" event, right?
Can you tell if he is right or left hoofed yet?

I'd say generally I'm thinking 3-4 years +/-.

We let our (then) 13-yr old son invite 7 friends to our overnight NYE party (with their parents' permission, and the understanding that WE were at the party also...all night). All good on the surface. Girls had sleeping space upstairs, boys downstairs. We probably should NOT have allowed them to consume all that Mountain Dew...
They NEVER slept. Nor did we. My ass has never dragged so bad on New Year's Day, either before that year or after...

Most of our friends are in their 60s, with a few that are late 50's. "My age" is probably the shady side of midlife, stopping short of doddering...

60+ years ago I had chicken pox while still in diapers. So, a couple of years ago I got the Zostavax vaccine for shingles. Two weeks ago, acting on the advice of my doctor, I got the first dose of the Shingrix vaccine (a more effective vaccine). I should be doubly covered, right? Right???

So riddle me this - how the hell am I the unlucky SOB who has now been diagnosed with shingles????

On the left side of my back, at the waistband...annoying as all get out. Makes me grateful that I'm retired and don't have to put on clothes unless I'm going somewhere...
