I've been looking at the shore excursions for the alumni cruise we're doing next spring. Fun fact - we will be going through the Panama Canal, but we will not set foot in Panama. So will that count as a country "visited"?
IDK -- wouldn't you still be in international waters?

She was really nice the one time I got to meet her. She didn't come off as awkward then. :(

Edit: also, @cowgirl836 were there any ark sightings up in Madison? Ancient looking guys with long flowing white beards wandering around, staff in hand? News reports this morning said something like nine inches of rain???
Her team at work is filled with 4 of the most obnoxious women I've ever met. She might just be done haha.

Rain talk had 1.8" last week which was well timed and needed. Picked up 6" last Sun nite thru Mon nite which was plenty. Some friends about 10 miles away had 7".

Yeah, I think so. Our deal is you actually have to set foot in the state/country. Flying over it doesn't count. So we think sailing past it won't count either, even though we will be in the middle of the country!

Side note - this trip will give us another continent (we have a stop in Cartegena, Colombia), and a visit to a place that NO other member of my (well-traveled) family has been...Havana, Cuba.

You can always jump off the ship, catch up with them at the next lock problem solved ;).

I think I already ranted about this but I cannot fathom why the engineering college thought two different career fairs in two different weeks was a good idea. It's so idiotic it hurts.

We drove up south Duff about an hour ago, and there was a really humongous line snaking out to the road and down the sidewalk. It originated at either Coldstone, or more likely, Panchero's. All college age. This was at about 2.30p. It had to be a 2 hour wait for the people at the back of the line. Is Panchero's offering a free burrito to incoming freshmen or something?

When we were kids (5 of us), whenever we traveled to another state, we would race to the first unpaved area -- had to be natural to count -- to claim victory of first to set foot in said state.

It's like the crack dealer, giving out a free taste.

I was 11 when we moved from Washington to Florida. We went (mostly) due east to Pennsylvania, then turned south along the eastern seaboard. Our route took us near Michigan, but not through Michigan. So Daddy exited the highway, drove about 10 miles north (about 6 miles into Michigan), let us get out and run around the car once, then loaded us back up, retraced the path to the highway, and continued east. It wasn't much - but we were able to "claim" Michigan. :D
