Can we get a bakery to make a white cake and food color it to look chocolate for CG?

I do feel sorry for any wedding party this weekend near CG. I can see the reports of a pregnant woman who snuck in, meowed, grabbed a sheet cake, kinda ran in a circle, called everyone a whoar and then ran out the door.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you use 2x4s to keep the baby immobile, you might be looking at 10-to-25 for attempted homicide.
Well, I was thinking more along the lines of taking up the extra 3", but I do see your point.

It was a perfect night for volleyball last night. I showed up early to get a court because I knew it would be busy due to the holiday. We usually play at 6ish and at 6:10 I was the only one there so I was getting worried that nobody would show up but it was just a late arriving crowd. We didn't quite have enough people for two full teams so a father-daughter-son-in-law that were sitting near us asked if they could join. We said yes of course and I'm going to admit, I was certainly questioning the father's volleyball abilities and boy was I wrong. He was in his mid-to-upper 50's and was only wearing a camo hat, jeans, and a bit of a beer gut. He also played every game with a cigarette in his mouth. This guy was by far the best player of the three that joined us and he was probably top 5 out of everyone that was there last night. I guess I should remember to not judge a book by its cover. I had two plays that I was especially proud of. I am 6' 4" so I'm most comfortable up front but the problem is I'm not coordinated enough to time my jump well enough to spike it or block it with much consistency. On one particular play it all came together and the ball was set perfectly and I timed my jump well and had the best spike of my life. I felt pretty good about it until the next play I mistimed my jump and got hit in the face with the ball. That brought me back to reality a bit. The other play happened on a serve. The guy serving from the other team had a tendency to serve it directly at a person's head so either you had to back up and hit it or hope it was going to go out. After I hit two straight returns out of the court I got fed up with it and sure enough he hit it to the exact same spot, my head, and I could tell if was definitely going to be in play but I wasn't going to be able to back up fast enough to return it cleanly. So, I channeled my inner FIFA and did a good old fashioned header and miraculously it was a perfect set for my teammate who spiked it and scored the point. I'm pretty sure if ESPN was there it would have made SportsCenter's Top 10 but I suppose I'll just have to life with the 'what if'.

Side note #1: A lot of the people I play volleyball with work in Jackson, Mn and the big story among them was that a rendering truck had taken the curve coming in to town too fast and spilled its contents all over the road. There were evidently guts and heads and other various hog body parts all over the road and they said it was the worst smell they had ever experienced. The truck driver didn't know it had happened until the police pulled him over at the other end of town and explained to him the mess he just made. I would not want to be the one responsible for cleaning that up.

Side note #2: There is a no wake ordinance in effect on all of the Okoboji lakes because of the insane amounts of rain we have had and the resulting high lake level. It was like life was in slow motion looking out across the lake yesterday. There were more boats out than usual because of the holiday but instead of everybody ripping around and tubing, skiing, etc. everyone was just putting along at 5mph. It was almost surreal. I'm sure many of the out-of-towners were pretty disappointed when they got to town this week and found out they couldn't use their boats.

As hot and humid as it can be in DC in the summer probably. Got the Holocaust Museum on the list? I have no idea how many days it would take to see the Smithsonian Buildings I skimmed the main one once many yrs ago. I should go back to DC someday so many things I did not get to see in my day and a half there. Heck even the train station where Amtrak leaves from was pretty amazing. Loved the Subway system 1st time I had ever been on one. Gets you pretty close to most things. Have fun.
The Holocaust museum is on the list for the first full day there. A couple of friends have said it's pretty intense. We may not have time. So many of the museums close at 5:00 that it makes planning a bit tricky.

We'll be going to Union Station for lunch one day and we'll be leaving from there for the train ride to NYC.

We'll do the mall one but we won't have a car so getting to Dulles will be problematic. I guess the subway will go out there in the next year or two.

I admittedly have not been to either one. I have heard that the Newseum is great.

Can somebody please plan our trip to DC? I've been trying to figure out how to fit all the stuff in that we want to do. Suddenly, we can't tour the pentagon because the times we can go are full. This should free up a couple of hours but I already had that day figured out. Will the wife and kids be OK with an agenda that includes hanging out at a bar for a couple of hours in the middle of the afternoon?

How many days are we talking?

We had a message on our answering machine when we got home....something about "If you do not wish to make the payment, then call XXX-XXX-XXXX". I told the vixen it's phony, nobody does that without identifying themselves. She called it anyway (o_O) and it would quickly disconnect as soon as it connected. (No, I didn't say "I told you so.")

And @cowgirl836, you obviously have an extra-special good coming after that disaster. Yeesh!

Well, congratulations to the Vixen for getting you moved up on the scam calls numbers register from random number to confirmed real number plus one that might talk to you. Bummer. That's like a 4 star rating!

Question for you techies. Before I dropped my home phone I'd get these scam messages left on my recorder like SCyclone mentions. I never get these on my cell. Lots of what I assume are scam calls because I don't recognized the number but they NEVER ever leave a message. And, yes, my voice mail works. Unknown number popped up the other day and it was the Davey Tree guy who left a message they were coming out to treat my magnolia.

@wxman1 tell me again about this Master's you are doing. In what, through where, timeline, online/in-person? Also what you had to do to start - like, tests or pre-reqs. I'm much curious. Have basically been told further advancement would require more education which doesn't entirely surprise me but it's also like well cool, I've had like, 5 years of chill time that I theoretically could have done so. Life is......not going to be so chill now. But I'm curious how it's going for you knowing you just got started and have littles in your life.

This would be an incredibly me thing to do.....pursue an advanced degree while working and raising a baby. I always do bite off more than I can chew.

It is an adjustment. My employer is paying for it as long as I get at least a B so I figured I would give it a a shot. I am doing both online and in-person but the plan is to mostly be in person. Different programs/schools have different entry requirements. I went to Mount Mercy because it did not have any entry requirements, was a little closer to home and work and was not downtown so parking was much easier. The distance and parking are little things but after being at work all day and maybe seeing the family very briefly I did not want to have to deal with traffic and finding a place to park. Same with when class is over at 9:30PM. I want to get home.

The U of I has options to waive the GMAT but it is mostly based off of undergrad GPA and I did not meet the cutoff. Plus it was the U of I.

Time-They claim that you will need to spend at least the same amount of time outside of class as you do in class. I find that to be on the low end but I am not a smart man so it takes me a little more plus some concentration issues that I have always had. As I said it has been an adjustment. Most weeks I am doing HW from when the kids go down around 8 until midnight at least a couple of nights a week. That takes away a lot of free time. I have had friends both male and female do it with babies and I have no idea how they pulled it off but they did so take that for what it's worth.

My biggest frustrations have come with nit picky stuff and a lot of this is just my personality but that kind of crap bugs the living day lights out of me. So when I get a paper back that the professor is pointing out every little way I did not meet APA 6th edition I get agitated. Just my opinion that a professional MBA program with people that are working 8+ hours a day plus families and what not and 90%+ will never go on to a doctoral program should have a little more slack.

Pretty much every program now days gives you the opportunity to take 5-10 years to complete it so if you just want to take a class or two a year that is fine. I don't plan to take a summer class next year and may drop a few others. An MBA is not a prereq for whatever my next position will be but it would obviously help me.

Feel free to PM me with anything else.
