Yeah. this one bothers me. It seems to hold true for most of Western Europe, too (the indigenous people part doesn't really apply).
I had an aunt who was Canadian, not a very nice woman. From what i hear, she drank a lot (they lived in Cali and we didn't see them much)
When my husband drove me around town the first time, we came to a section with interesting architecture and charm that I actually liked. It was a Ukrainian neighborhood and we stopped and went into shops and the people were interesting and lovely.
Then he took me to a party with some of his high school friends and they asked what we had done so far. I mentioned a cute little shop and they were all shocked that husband took me to the bad part of town with all those nasty Ukrainians thugs.
Knew I wouldn't fit into Canada "nice."
Oldest started HS today. The schedule is overwhelming to look at--the different bell scenarios are 4 pages long. Three regular days, 2 block days, and then red/black days that rotate differently every 2 weeks. Wednesday block days are different than Thursday block days because every Wed the HS students get out at 2:30 but she has to wait around for the bus or volleyball practice. 1st lunch or 2nd lunch depending on the 1st letter of your 6th period teacher's last name but that may change if one lunch is too full, but on Thursdays it is the 1st letter of your 7th period teacher's name. All her classes are pretty easy to get to, but her locker is on the opposite side of the building. They say kids don't even use their lockers, just carry everything to every class. I know she will get the hang of it!

When my oldest started high school, they were on the block schedule with four lunch times, but they dumped it several years ago. The biggest problem we ever had with it was all my boys were accelerated in math, so they bused them to the high school for math and it messed with their middle school schedule quite a bit. I think they simplified things in part because of some teachers who taught in both buildings,
Most kids at our high school take everything in their backpacks before lunch and after lunch. I know some schools don't let them take backpacks to class. Ours does, especially with them issuing laptops to the kids that they want them to take to class.

Sounds like some principal is getting a little carried away there...
My favorite part of flag football was the crazy plays with things like the center eligible. We used that for conversions frequently.
When I was a cub scout we performed a skit with the Barney Google song. He had a wife three times his size...
