Yesterday, we spent 5 hours outside doing yard work and planting. About 3.5 hours into it, our neighbor to the north came over and asked if we wanted some impatiens and begonias. She had bought them and didn't want them now. I was like, sure, that works. Flowers aren't cheap. She brings over 24 of each. I was thinking we were getting maybe 6 or so, but ok. I offer her money, and she refuses.

About 45 minutes later, our neighbor to the south comes over. She's got 4 bags of hostas and wants to know if we wanted a bag. Again, I was like, sure, that works.

So what could have been about 3.5 hours worth of yard work ended up being closer to 5 hours by the time we were done. I was grateful for the plants, but my back somehow aged 15 years. If only I had a three-day weekend to recover from my three day weekend.

Going to the South Point to hopefully not donate too much money. If available I am going to put a couple of bucks on ISU over UNI and Iowa. Maybe even the Cubs to win a game for once.

Other cool stuff my mom showed me this weekend...

- My grandma's 3rd grade primer from 1926, with her handwriting in it. Now I know where I got my handwriting. Looked/looks a lot like mine.
- A small quilted blanket my great-grandmother made for my mother when she was a baby.
- A dishtowel with a note attached in my grandmother's handwriting "Your ole [sic] mom handstitched this when she was a teenager." It's just a simple border, but very well done.

I "claimed" the primer when my mom passes away.
