Random Thoughts V

I have an idea that I'd like to take the lead on but I thought I would run it by the Random Thoughts brain trust before I post a whole new thread.

Do you think people would be interested in a Cyclone Fanatic Meet-Up? I was semi-inspired by The Chive and their meet-ups. I know some of you CFers meet up at football tailgates and other ISU events like the ones in Ankeny but since I live in western Iowa and no longer have football season tickets I am never able to make it down and meet some of you.

I was thinking following the men's basketball game in Sioux Falls (tips off at 4, over by ~7) it would be fun to find a bar or restaurant that has a large guest room and whoever is a CFer that attended the game could meet up and bring their plus ones and we could talk CF, the Colorado game, have a few drinks and put some faces to the usernames.

What do you think?

I don't know about a CF get together where we all remove are masquerade masks (don't want to get randomly punched by some dillweed I ****** off) but I am hoping that ISUAA or someone sets up a post game gathering spot.

Right now...no tickets to the game. We want to go, but didn't order fast enough. Some of us have met up at basketball games though - nothing formal, just locating each other in our seats.

Met Rulzzz, SaraV, CyMe & Oldman, Rev & CycloneErik that way.

Side note - Sara is DEFINITELY as tall as she says, and I think she'll vouch for the fact that I am DEFINITELY as short as I say I am. ;)

You've met me briefly.

IDK, I'm allergic to chicks. half- :jimlad:

Is the Farmington Target newer? I would always hit up Apple Valley (closest), Lakeville (opened while we lived there) and Burnsville. Then we moved to Carroll, IA where the closest one was 75mi away. :(
I think he Farmington one is newer, it's closer too. I am not 100% sure though, it's up near 160th on Pilot Knob, across from where the Hyvee is going.

Alright guys I understand the internet sarcasm. Now, can I get a real answer?

I think you have a good thought, but I would assume most people that are going to the game are headed back to Des Moines/Ames area. I'm sure you could post a Thread about Sioux City clones and get some interest I just feel like most people will be traveling and not planning on getting a hotel for that night especially since it's an early game.

I don't think there are many of us. Maybe just me??

If the Alumni Association doesn't set something up then our fans can set up something informal using CF to publicize. I asked ISUAA and am waiting for a response. I also dropped a note to the game watch contact in Sioux Falls. I can help ISUAA or anyone else set something up. I've done a bunch of these for athletic events here in the Twins.

But I ain't wearing a moniker tag.

Thought I would post the idea in here before I started a thread about it.

Looks like people aren't a fan of the idea so it's good I didn't start a thread.

My comment was intended to be humorous...

It's not a bad idea - if it was a late game, you'd probably see some traction on it. If we went, we have a daughter in Sioux Center that we would probably stay with, but would likely meet up with other fans during or after the game for a bit if it was an option.

Is it basketball time yet? I want our tickets. Seriously sad that almost all the games are past Z's bedtime. I am going to need to start looking for sitters. I think the first afternoon game is Dec or Jan.

I don't think it's a bad idea. In the end, I think the people that would own up to their usernames would wind up being the people that most everyone can tolerate anyway. I think you'd weed out the internet tough guys out there that would be afraid of losing their imagined 'CF cred' if people knew what they actually looked like.

CF has a wide age demographic though. The venue would likely eliminate a certain percentage of CFers based on if it's family friendly or more of a bar.

Reading through that Charter thread it looks like the end revolved around a accidentally deleted post while he was trying to edit it. I thought it was an issue with my phone but looks like it is a CF thing. I can get to the edit screen but once in there no matter where I click (using the mobile version) it activates the delete button. Anyone else having this issue?

I've had a hell of a time trying to edit posts the last couple weeks.

Sioux Falls is too much of a haul for me, but if I manage to snag tickets to a game in Ames, I'd be willing to meet up with RT people.
