any decent places to grab breakfast in Adair? I'm just going to assume the hotel food will be schnasty. DH will mostly want donuts, which is fine since I think we might stop in CR to see a friend of his and we can eat there too.

Never really gone into Adair. The only place I would know if would be a Village Inn in Walnut. I think it's still there, may be named something different.

Wings in Avoca is another option. Cy$ may know of some good small town spots

People hate realtors apparently

I don't get why anyone wants to listen to our two sports guys shoot the breeze with a sponsor so I don't listen and pretty much stay away from the threads on the bs sessions. Looking in or posting would just get me in trouble.

wait, what about flooding on Sunday? we gotta long drive back from western Iowa.

I heard on the radio last night that the Flur Drive might start flooding tonight or tomorrow. Basically, just be aware that rivers might start flooding this weekend with all of the rain.

also an outdoor wedding tomorrow. Eeeek

I would have an umbrella. Though I think some of the rain is supposed to hold off until evening.

Seeing tickets being brought up, I wonder when they actually expect you to have one for the kiddos. I know the rule, but Z looks smaller. Do they just look at the kid and demand how old they are? ;)

I was debating taking my 8 year old in a Bjorn Baby sling this December to see if Southwest would let her qualify. Does that make me cheap?

Looks like they may be backing off of it just a little now.

DES MOINES, Iowa —The National Weather Service now says only minor flooding is forecast for the Raccoon River and Des Moines River.

Other Stories

The Des Moines River at Southeast 6th St. is just over 18 feet this morning. It's now predicted to rise to 25 feet by Sunday, one foot over flood stage.
The Raccoon River is at 7.5 feet this morning. It's now forecast to rise to flood stage - 12 feet - by Sunday. That is high enough to close down George Flagg Parkway, but the water shouldn't affect Gray's Lake Park or Fleur Drive.

Time for the vintage amphibious car!

ha, as long as 80 is clear, should be ok. Adair looks like they have a Casey's. Breakfast of champions right there.

forgot to mention - now I see we have a barn swallow nest on the underside of our front porch where they didn't have it all finished off yet. I had wondered when I saw them swooping through the front yard area a lot (we've been going in through the garage) but thought maybe it was for bugs in the mud. Hopefully the nest is out of the way enough to finish up and they can be my bug control for the summer. I know swallows like to come back to the same spot though. We had a nest for years right in the front section of our barn over the aisle. It's only like a 7-8 foot ceiling there and they'd eventually stop getting ****** off when we came through milking twice a day. Well, honestly we probably went under that nest a hundred times a day between milking and chores. But they kept coming back to that spot.

Adair has a Happy Chef. Honestly Stuart has better options and it's a little ways East of Adair on I-80.

The Village Inn isn't here anymore, it's called Emma Jeans. The bakery in Walnut is the best breakfast stop in the area.

Atlantic has a Mexican place that's really good for the evening called Rancho Grande. It's right next to a bar where you can get drinks. Are you staying in Adair?

Am I the only one that hasn't seen any Jurassic Parks or have any interest in seeing them including the new one?
