If you believe you were qualified, you might try sending a nice polite note or email saying "thank you for looking at my resume. I am interested in improving my skills. Can you offer me any advice on how to improve my resume/cover letter/initial interview?"

That is a good approach. Thanks!

Yay or Nay on trying to ask a HR rep why you were not selected for an interview?

My experience is no mostly because they wont tell you. Damn I want to know though.

It never hurts to ask. Good luck on the search.

Likewise, I went to a school smaller than Ames, that did have them, so apparently school size is not pertinent.

<disclosure: I almost posted "so apparently size is not pertinent" but decided to avoid the giggles and pointing>

I would have had to log in on the desktop and like that one.

I would hate to go to a small school. There's two division upperclassmen and underclassmen. We're easily the best underclassmen team. We've won every game by 20+.

I went to a 1A and 3A school, there's advantages to both.

1A advantages were mostly sports related, was a 3 year starter in basketball and that's before my weight loss. You also know everyone which can be a good thing or a bad thing.

3A advantages were academic related. Better teachers that got me ready for college. More people so a better chance to make friends.

There's more to it than that. Depends on the type of person you are. I liked both about the same.

yeah i did, very small school

pretty much like college intramurals, didn't know high school had them. Learn something new everyday.

me and cmjh played on the same team, lost by 4, refs sucked *** and we were kinda trying to lose.

Trying to sandbag down a class for the playoffs?

I was also 3A, but still knew all of my classmates. Not really well friends wise, but I knew all of their names. I thought 3A was nice, 'cause it was big enough that you could choose who to hang out with, but still knew everyone. (170-ish in my class)

Yeah that's why I like the bigger schools. It's way more fun than a small school with like 500 students. I don't get why kids that live in Ames go to Gilbert.

yeah, the funny thing is that the refs put 2 points for them instead of us, so we lost 45-41, when it should have been 43-43, a tie, which would have been bad because our next game is against a creampuff.

Hmm...I'll place you under advisement for return to the list, but know ahead of time that IF you get put back on the list, there will be a probationary period, and pics do help.

Not showing the appropriate level of excitement about this opportunity in a timely manner may affect your return to the list, CG.....It's like returning an e-mail about a job opportunity 3 weeks later.

My graduating class was over 500 (different designations back, and different state...so I don't know what "A" that would be). My ex's was 17! In a big high school you tend to be pigeonholed in terms of extracurricular activities because there is so much competition. I wanted my boys to be in a smaller school than mine, but have more options than their dad did, so we chose to live in a different school district from Ames. Their graduating classes were around 100-115.

made a Marlon Brando Godfather impression for DH while I was putting on moisturizer.

He was not impressed.

Mega-class representing. Graduated with 737...was to 1100 four years later when my sister graduated.

I barely knew everyone's name in marching band my senior year.

Yeah...tough to know everyone in a class that big. I mostly hung with the vocal music & drama peeps.
