Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

BC's slippery banana juice sounds like it could have been coined by one of his crazy ex-girlfriends.
Possibly. Which, in a moment of sleep-deprived Late Stage Tax Season Dementia leads me to post the following 2 songs (apologies folks). The pairing sort of makes sense if you think about it. Maybe Gwen can be the spokeswoman for BC's Slippery Banana.

Welp.
Here we go again.
After a routine CT last week showed that a nodule in the lower left lobe of his lungs had grown from 9mm to 13mm in the past year, Lew underwent a PET scan yesterday. Results: the nodule lit up, and a section of his sigmoid colon also lit up.
So now he starts a new round of diagnositics. Lung biopsy next week, coloonoscopy in a couple of months (he's on a wait list to get it done sooner).
His CLL is unchanged, so that's good. His oncologist is optimistic. Doc R says that IF the lung nodule comes back as cancerous, it's isolated and a "simple" surgical fix would be the likely route...no chemo or radiation. And the bowel could very well be just a random irritation since Lew has no other symptoms, and had a clean colonoscopy just 2 years ago.

Bah.
Just had to vent. We're both thinking on the positive side. It's the damned hurry up & wait diagnostics that wear us down. New doctors, multiple appts,.. It's hard to plan future activities when you don't know what's going on with your health.

But seriously, hang in there and stay positive. Positive vibes and prayers headed your way.

The pairing absolutely makes sense in the context of the conversation.

And not just the "hurry up and wait" - moreso the "what's happening to me while you wait?" thinking. We're here for you.

It does sorta/kinda sound like it's not a worst case scenario. Hopefully, it will be ok but my thoughts and prayers are with Lew and yourself anyway.

I just found out that I have a small spot of melanoma on the back of my knee. It's pretty small and not very deep so I'm not particularly worried but it's still a scary word. Also, I'll have to put my career as a leg model on hold for a period of time.

Maybe Pants can fill in while you rehab. Is there a market for tree trunk leg models? Disclaimer: I have never observed Pant's legs and don't really care to--just going off what @BoxsterCy used to say.

It would be a different type of gig. Pants legs are more of the stocky, muscular type. My legs are more of the, "they go on to the next page" type. I'm practically Mary Hart.

Des Moines city council asking residents not to mow their lawn in May due to pollinators. Is that really a thing? Does cutting grass drive away pollinators?

Lew had MOHS surgery on his nose last month...it was quick and relatively easy. Those little ones are NBD, but best to take care of them. Anyone over 30 should get a baseline screening from a dermatologist, especially if they spend a lot of time in the sun. People our age get these things all the time. Left untreated they can become a problem...but if treated, not so much.

Eggs, larvae, don't emerge right away. I've been seeing recommendations to wait on tilling gardens or removing the leaves & sticks from last fall also.

When I saw those stitches my first thought was one of the cats has savaged him! You know, cause cats. ;)

The no mow lawns thingie is a not much impact idea with good intentions but maybe a bit silly. Not cleaning up dead perennials and annuals and leaf debris in the garden areas does help, I have to meet them halfway on that. I try to wait in the spring but if I wait too long than removing the leaves and old dead plants damage the new emerging plants, especially ones like beebalm.

And while I am at it..........
