I've been sitting here logged into work talking with another guy about the crazy storm that hit us. There wsa some crazy rain and lightning. They are saying they recorded 6 inches of rain in an hour in one spot in town.

Decided to get an update from one builder on what they are looking at cost wise. Base price has gone up just over $30k since April.

Returning back to Iowa after spending the weekend in my hometown celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary. Traffic isn't horrible at 8:30 at night just outside of The Place We Don't Speak Of on I-80, but the drive on Thursday was not all that fun. Made me ponder whether or not it would make sense* to make I-80 three lanes to lessen the asshattery of drivers, or if it would just emphasize it.

* - I understand money/logistics would make this either impossible or only happening in the distant future, but it was just a thought.

The 3 lanes will be really handy for the governed semis to use all three lanes going 65mph, 65.1mph and 65.15mph. None of them can accelerate any more and they all refuse to brake and fall back. Liked the cattle hauler I followed for a while out in Wy last wk he was running a solid 80.

Congrats on your parents 50th that's a fine accomplishment!

Folks, it’s my lucky day. I received an envelope from Toronto Canada today. It contained a letter about this dude from the US that had the same last name as me with no next of kin. He passed away almost 10 years ago and if someone doesn’t claim his $7.8 MM account it will be forfeited.

This caring individual at the bank has been watching it and doesn’t want it to get lost and since I had the same last name and also from the US he is going to present me as best of kin and I get the funds. What a great guy! All I have to do is call him and set things up. I will probably slip him 10k as a gift for being nice. This is a great day I tell ya!!!

Once I get these funds, the next RTT tailgate is completely on me.

Used my phone for alarm last night and got very little sleep. Sigh. Because of tornado warnings north and west, the emergency alarm went off three times. I intended to go to sleep by 10:30 and get up at 5:45. Haha. No real sleep until after 12:30 whenthe warnings expired and continuous TV weather coverage stopped, and then I woke up two or three times. So, tired and irritated this morning

Coming home from CR last night we stopped at The Mill along HWY 20. I went inside and a guy in his 50s was wearing a kilt while outside a tent church revival was happening next to the building. A unique contrast to say the least.
