Random Thoughts 15: Crystal Clear 2021 Edition

The house across the street has a foundation company over there, they chopped out his garage floor and I can see a mound of dirt in there. Curious what's going on.
Maybe setting up some sort of Buffalo Bill pit in the garage?

Could be bad concrete and they're replacing it. We had a run of that up here some years ago.....too much fly ash in the admixture and it was spalling and popping everywhere. Must have cost them boo-koo bucks.

The house is 23 years old so I don't really think it is the concrete itself, but who knows. I would love to be nosey and walk over and ask

Whatever it was it appears they are done, I can see the garage floor is all intact. Not sure where the concrete came from. If I had something like that done it would take a month just to get the garage cleaned out.

After much consternation and debate, we are leaving on a spring break trip tomorrow with my son, 3 of his friends, and their families to Punta Cana. We're not sure it's the best idea but we wanted the boys to get this trip in as a reward for their hard work.

Also, he has a new job. He's no longer a pizza genius. He is now freaky fast.

Friend of mine took his family to Mexico about 3 wks ago. He said it was about 25% full, lots of temp checks and misters to walk through. He really liked having the resorts only 25% full. Weather was excellent he was there during that cold snap.

Until we are fully vaccinated we're not traveling. After that, I'm more worried about the airplane than I would be about any resort location. I can distance myself on the ground. I can't do that on an airplane.

I actually DID get to see mine, but only because my skin around my eyes and on my chin was really badly broken out. :( Turns out the family gene pool is trying to drown me again. I now experience "the heartbreak of psoriasis". Bad news - wearing the mask makes it itch more. Good news - the mask hides the flareups and she had an ointment that clears it up pretty quickly (2-3 days).
The onset is unrelated to any mask usage; the symptoms tend to first show up when we are in our 60s and older. But it DOES make me want to smack that one dude upside the head...the one lying about how masks give him sinus infections. Right. Try wearing a mask and NOT scratching your chin when it's itching like a sumbeach.

Got 2nd Covid shot this afternoon and now sitting around seeing If I feel like crap tonight and tomorrow like some relatives did. Feel okay so far. Went birding walkabout after the shot. Missed a potentially great eagle shot when some dumb **** walked right up to the lakes edge with his damned little dog and cell phone as I was trying to set up with telephoto to shot an eagle out on the ice that was perched on a log. Flew off, of course. To make it worse I'd talked to this same guy like two minutes before about the eagles and he mentioned seeing me before stalking the eagles so he KNEW I was looking for that shot. Idiot. :mad:

I really hate humans sometimes.

Was out last weekend in a trout stream near a small town and some guy with his family walked right up to about where I was casting to get a better look at the stream.

I don't really care all that much about the 'catch' but that's just bad awareness. I wear a neon beanie too so it's not like it was hard to see me.

Got my 2nd shot yesterday...had some chills last night and kind of a 'wired' headache type deal but otherwise just been a bit groggy.

Feeling a little "off", enough that maybe I won't have me that beer I was thinking of popping.

They are in Mn I know both parents had the vaccine not sure about the kids. It is their daughter's Sr yr so they pulled the trigger to make up for the last yr. The pics of where they went looked like it was really nice. Of course when it is 0 and you see pics of sandy beaches, palm trees, and blue water it all looks good.

Got my dad his shots scheduled. He has to drive to Waterloo but is more than willing to do so. Mom can't get it until April sometime I guess something with waiting so long after the shingles shots she is getting.

We also found out today that my grandmas nursing home is now allowing you into their rooms two people at a time with masks and you can hug. Almost back to normal there!

Going for a short flight tomorrow with dad and LittleWx. Dad will also be giving MrsWx cousin a Young Eagle flight (free ride through EAA for ages 8-17). #CoolStory bro.
