A favorite thing with a lot of wins under TJ is that when it gets to the last 2-3 minutes, they choke the life out of their opponents.

It's almost sinister watching it happen.
That is a great analogy. It was relentless pressure and the dudes never looked panicked. More irritated yet confident they will win.

Key to the game was weathering the first punch and keeping it within reach. You knew those dorks were going to come out shooting like crazy. Jefferson was incredible and Curtis is a big shot machine. Tamin had an amazing second half and it was good to see him hit a couple 3s
I said it in the game thread but past teams would have been down 15-20. We didn’t panic and just kept grinding knowing that eventually things would regress to the mean.

Was great to hear the "go state" chant in the 2nd half, what a joke of a program EIU has become in MBB. The great thing about it, Fran is only in the first year of a four year contract and they do not have the money to buy him out. Their only hope is he retires and walks away, but that is not going to happen with that much money on the table.

My wife of 13 years grew up in a hawkeye family. She still considers herself more of a hawk fan but she always cheers for ISU as well. Today is the first time she's ever worn an ISU shirt on a Cyhawk gameday. She was actively cheering for ISU during the game and complaining about the officiating when appropriate. I was almost in tears I was so proud.
I'm sorry. You know what needs to be done.

Great comeback for ISU tonight, EIU played as well as they could, for most of the game, and still lost by 9 on their home floor. EIU has the same problems that they always do, soft on the boards, and when their shots are not falling, like the last 5 minutes they struggle to score. EIU got 87% from the foul line, they just could not get there enough to make it count in the end.

Great win for ISU, go on the road, got punched in the mouth, and instead of rolling over like past ISU teams have in the morgue they fought back and got the win.

The biggest reason that they are soft on the boards is because they are undersized at just about every position. They are playing Sandfort at the 4, which can be a mismatch offensively, but he's not going to hold up on defense against true 4's and he's definitely not going to rebound like most 4's can. The problem is, if he plays the 3, he's going to pile up the fouls because he can't guard someone like Curtis Jones. Momcilivic has the same issues, but ISU is deep enough that we can sub him out and put in a better matchup. Iowa is not.

That said, I do think that they have a decent team. Those guys have some skill and they aren't going to run into many teams as talented as ISU 1-10. I feel like they are likely an NCAA tourney team and could possibly win a game if they get the right matchup and they're hitting shots.
