Playoffs

Reading some ESPN guys (I know, I know) and a couple guys are talking now about doing a reseeding after the first round. They're "ok" with giving the top conference champs a bye, but don't want them (ie Big 12 or G5 teams) to have a higher seed than the B1G/SEC also-rans. :puke:

But at some point the mid level teams will get sick of going into the conference with 2 or possibly 3 losses. Add in a couple conference losses and they could have 5-7 losses each year. Teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, USC, OlMiss, Arkansas, Kentucky. They are already creating a huge divide between the other conferences and them and that will never change. We can either sit back, ***** about it and take it or we can try and change it. It will not be long before the SEC/Big10 take over the NCAA Basketball Tournament. They are just like Texas, once you give them a little bit of power they want it all. like I said, F'em.
The teams you listed don’t carry the water for those conferences. They are happy to be part of the club and honestly the conferences are going to listen to them.

As Bud Elliott always says “take the checks take the losses”

I think a road trip is a really good situation for ISU if they win this weekend. Let the other team hear for 2 weeks how they will blow us out, getting them looking ahead. We are down 7 early in the 4th, go on a mind numbing 15 play, 11 minute drive to tie it. Nerves set in, then a tipped pass right into Freylers hands with 2 minutes left.

That’s really dumb. I’m not even going to write a lengthy explanation why, because I think we all know it’s that stupid. Just proves they are not intelligent and should share less.

And then what happens!?! We are tied with 2 min left and the ball.

I totally agree with this. I would like to see the Big12, ACC and the rest of the conferences join together and say F you to the CFP committee, the SEC and the BIG10 and go back to regular Bowl games. Each conference will have a conference championship game and the conference champs only play in a playoff. Cancel all games with the BIG10 and SEC until the conferences get fair recognition at the table. When they start playing each other in non conference games, maybe they will think twice about their conference strength. JMO.
Too much money involved to both the ACC and B12 to walk away from the playoff and its only going to be bigger in the future. The best deal will be to go to 14 from 12 and lock the number of teams in by conference to 4, 4, 2, 2. That way both the ACC and B12 get two teams in each year.

And that surprises absolutely no one.

Go UNLV and go Clemson this coming weekend. We probably get a bye if we win and those two teams do as well.
I think we only need 1 to win? 4 auto byes to top 4 champs. So if either Clemson or UNLV finishes below us, we'd get the 4th bye.

Pretty huge because it would go from likely the 11 or 12 seed to 4.

Shoot... if Clemson and UNLV win... B12 could be looking at the 3 seed.

Why not just seed it based on the ranking? SEC and Big Ten get 1-4-2-3 (in some order, most years), other 3 auto-bids wherever they land 5 thru 12. If the goal is to make it slanted, dispense with pretention.

Because if they just use ranking, they then lose control and a team like TCU or Baylor the first year could get one of those slots. The committee has to give the illusion that they are on the up and up and still control the teams that they place to ensure that the B10 and SEC get most of the prime spots.

Its also why there is no set criteria because having rules makes it harder to influence the outcome, without them, the committee can determine what they consider important one season, and then ignore the next season. The 13th data point is the perfect example of this, or an undefeated FSU not making it last year because they had lost their QB a couple of games before that.

The sooner people realize the fix is in, and everything will be done to enrich the SEC and B10 makes it easier to understand what the committee is doing here.

The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded Nos. 1-4

Clemson winning will keep them ahead of us in any scenario. They are the more attractive program and the fact they lost 3 games means nothing. That's just how the committee works.

Wonder if a good solution to this debate I to take the champions of the 4 highest ranked conferences or something instead of the 5 highest ranked champions. Then you can maybe take the highest ranked champion that hasn’t been picked already.

And if ISU beats ASU, they’ll have a 10-2 win + 3 8-4 wins. Thats better than most. Would be curious how that stacks up against Boise (who everyone has well ahead of ISU.
I think ISU will get a nice jump if they beat Ariz. State. Maybe not as much as deserved or wanted (Fiesta BYE) but nice enough. I think worst case scenario, ISU will host a home game as Big XII Champion.

I have a hard time getting too riled up about our situation given the nature of our two loses. But beyond that, the system is just a total joke. There are ***** teams up and down each conference but the Big 12 is the only one that gets dinged for it.
