Players that should get drafted this year

The NFL looks far deeper than simple production or if a player did a good job in his role. It’s why Kene Nwangu was a 4th round pick, and why Deshaunte Jones never even received a undrafted look by anyone.

The Lazard situation was a one off though. He had no business being Undrafted. Was just one of those cases where a couple flaws dinged him too harshly. Should’ve been a 4th/5th at least.
Deshaunte would absolutely have been an UDFA but they didnt invite them into camps bc of covid.

Best job in the world. No pressure, very low injury risk, not taking head shots for 15 years. Make $38mill career earnings and retire in your upper 30's.

Hasn't thrown for 2,000 yards yet for a career.

Just comes in and throws to the sidelines.

Perfect.

I’m still surprised I haven’t heard his name pop up on a practice squad. Do we know what Deshaunte is up to these days if he’s still trying to play football?

espn currentlyhas him as the #3 DT. Hope he is high on the the actual draft boards as well… I think he is.

Defensive tackles

2. Jordan Davis, Georgia
3. Eyioma Uwazurike, Iowa State

No doubt in my mind. He and Will I'm very confident will find a home.

GMs don’t give a **** about what school someone went to, unless it’s a gimmick offense like the old Hawaii Offense or a triple option or some ****. People thinking that Al didn’t get drafted because he went to ISU are crazy. GMs truly don’t care.

I agree. I think that he didn't get drafted because 1. There was some confusion on whether he was going to be a TE or WR, 2. He had some drops issues, 3. NFL has went away from the tall jump ball WRs and want guys that can get open via route running and quickness.

One thing to remember...due to covid and super seniors, this will probably be the most competitive draft of all time. Guys that would have been drafted in past years are going to end up UFA's.

That is a great point, makes me wonder how many guys will stay for that extra year after they get draft feed back?

He is still working out and grinding. Covid timing couldnt have been any worse for guys like him who just need an opportunity.

I don’t think anyone doubts that he will be in an NFL training camp next year. If Landen Akers is on an NFL practice squad, a lot of current players will at least get into camps with the opportunity to stick on the practice squad.

Now, this site is more of a fantasy site but the main predictive stats for at least Breece and Charlie are really good. Both have really high level college dominator ratings (for RB's it's basically the percentage of all yards and TDs, receivers and TE's it's of passing yards/TDs) and great breakout ages, too. Obviously these numbers are primarily from last year and their final grades will come down to athletic testing, but it's fun to see guys on the radar from Iowa State.

Was there a specific reason Deshaunte didn’t get any looks?

They didnt have UDFA signings bc of covid, and has been a battle to get back on the radar since. He is fast (ran high 4.4s) but not elite size or speed. But there are dudes in the nfl and camps i have zero doubt he was/is better than

Deshaunte wasn’t a very polished route runner. He was a guy in space who could break out a big play with good speed, but did not have the route tree and skillset Hutch has. I mostly remember him running pretty simple routes for us. And he was very good at that role for what it’s worth.

I don’t think Covid was the biggest issue there. Marcel Spears got a shot in camp that year. People still signed UDFA’s. Jones didn’t even get a contract.

As a message board we have been over-optimistic for draft potential the past few years; I'm currently only going with McDonald, Hall, and Kolar as being selected in the draft.

My hunch as of right now:

Draft Locks: McDonald, Hall, Kolar
Fringe Drafte Picks: Enyi, X, Ant (a lockdown corner is worth a late round flyer in the NFL)
UDFA: Purdy, Allen, Newell, Rose,
Camp Invite: Shaw Jr., Mevis, Eisworth, Vance, maybe another OL

I think you're pretty close here. One question, why do you think Rose is UDFA compared to a guy like AJ Klein going 5th round?

I could see there being concern about how much wear and tear he has, and if he's playing too close to his ceiling. That, combined with more players with draftable grades due to the covid year, have him knocked down in my eyes. He could very well be a late round guy, but I expect him to get one of the first phone calls following the 7th round.

If Will McD doesnt go 1st round then idk what to say... He's legit 6'5 with long arms and wicked athleticism and speed.

Aside from maybe Bench press..his combine scores will be off the charts.

One thing to consider with the 1st rd as well is it won't be a good QB draft..like it was last couple years.

I think the other grades are prob about right. I do think Eni has a very good chance at going earlier than 7th round. He would be a pretty good pick up for a 3-4 DE in the NFL.
Yup if he doesn’t break the streak idk who would especially as an edge speed rusher
