says he is still committed to ISU but is still looking. My thoughts? He will stick with ISU. He took an official visit to Ohio. Ohio of all places. So i think we are safe. I think we are the best offer he has minus Nebraska (not sure if they are still pursuing)
I give the kid credit for saying he's still committed, but I won't be surprized if he jets. (i'd still love to have him on our team)
Why would he want to go to Ohio?? I think that we are ok, the only school i'm worried about it is Oklahoma. He wouldn't fit in well at Nebby and they still want him to play saftey, I still feel confident he will be a Cyclone!
Whats foolish is that claim. Arnaud was a much higher touted QB out of HS than this Bates kid. Do we not remember that Arnaud was rated the 6th best dual threat qb in the country?
Do we just sit there and say b/c he is from Iowa that he can't be as good as this other kid? C'mon. I for one would like Bates to come but wouldnt be terribly saddened if he didnt come. I think we would make him something else other than QB b/c he isn't beating out Arnaud. Arnaud got rave reviews in spring practice and when Bates came to ISU camp he struggled with his passing. Now who knows b/c both of these guys have almost 2 years to practice before the battle for the starting position. There is nothing better than competition. It brings out the best in players, but lets hold off before calling Bates the savior
How can you possibly know this? I think Bates will be a great QB and hope like hell he comes to ISU. I can't wait to see the position battle between him and Arnaud after Meyer leaves.
Let's face it, Arnaud was getting recruited by some great schools by Virginia Tech and he committed very early so there wasn't much time for other schools to jump in on him. I would be shocked if Arnaud wasn't the QB after Meyer.
If Brantley follows Chizik (which I doubt will happen), I wouldn't be surprised to see bates go elsewhere. However, if he's willing to make a position switch and play D (which he'd have to do at Nebraska), I would think that playing D for Chizik would be hard to pass up.
You're right he was in school last spring, I think he met he got rave reviews during summer camp. I might as well chime in on this, I think Arnaud will be given every opportunity to be the QB after Meyer, since he is an Ames kid and son of a former ISU player, plus from what I understand is very good.
