Have been waiting for this one ever since Casey left Ames to go to Stallwater!
125: 0-3 OSU
133: 0-6 OSU
141: 3-6 OSU (Assuming Ech is back)
149: 6-6 tie (Casey will get a TD in the first period then Jacob Frost absolutely breaks him in the 2nd and 3rd periods, wins 8-3.)
157: 6-9 ISU (I like this matchup stylistically for Zerban)
165: 9-9 Dee typically doesn’t bonus and Euton will keep it within striking distance.
174: 9-12 OSU
184: 12-12 I think Dean has a great chance to win this in overtime.
197: 12-15 ISU. Rocky gets a TD and wins 4-2.
HWT: Hoping we start at this weight. Yonger goes out there and majors Docuet.
12-19 Final. Maybe a little too optimistic but I’m very pumped for this dual!

i think mj, dean, zerban, and jacob have matches they can win

125: 3-0 OSU. Last time they wrestled this was a 2-1 win for Spratley. This one will likely be closer than most people think.
133: 6-0 OSU. Really interested in this one. I’m going to favor Jax right now, but Frost can make this interesting with his solid head hands and good sound finishing as well as hard rides.
141: 6-3 OSU. I just think AE’s solid attack and quick strong finishes will be too much for Vega. Will need to limit time on bottom.
149: 6-6. I have Frost winning a tight, very physical match. Riding could be the difference.
157: 9-6 OSU. Robideau has looked great.
165: 13-6 OSU. I think Dee has way too much skill and speed for Euton.
174: 16-6 OSU. Facundo wins a 1 TD match.
184: 19-6 OSU. Will be another close 1 TD match, but Ryder is the better wrestler.
197: 19-9 OSU. Elam in control the whole time and never in doubt.
285: 19-13 OSU. Yonger takes care of business.

We’ll need to flip a match into our favor to have a chance at winning. Lots of close matches at 33, 57, 74, 84 so it is going to be tight!

125 - 4-0 OSU - I think this is a match that Stevo can win in March, but Spratley is going to pressure him hard and GIA will be a factor.

133 - 7-0 OSU - no idea what to think of this match, I just think Jax is comfortable in every position and that will pose challenges. If it goes close deep into the 3rd I like Evan.

141 - 7-3 OSU - also not a clue what to expect here, Vega is very long and dangerous. Ech will control this match on their feet.

149 - 7-6 OSU - boy is cowboy Casey going to be fired up for this one. Frost just beats him.

157 - 11-6 OSU - Robideau is possibly my new pick to win it all. Zerban likely not 100% does not help either. Stylistically a tough match up.

165 - 14-6 OSU - Dee seems to be prone to close matches, this is a decision but never in doubt.

174 - 14-9 OSU - I don’t know why but I feel this is a match that MJ wins. If he stays disciplined he can hang with and beat Facundo.

184 - 17-9 OSU - Dean is good enough to win this match, it’s going to be a close one either way.

197 - 17-12 OSU - Merrill is another guy tha won’t do anything until very late, don’t think that’s the trick in this match up.

285 - 17-15 OSU - this board will be going absolutely bonkers because Doucet will be doing nothing but going backwards for 7 min.

A healthy Zerban or a win at 125, 133, 184 obviously flips this (though the same could be said for 141, 174 for OSU).

I think Stevo has a decent chance against Spratley. Stevo has been wrestling really well this month and seems to be coming into his own. Spratley is tough, and it’ll be a one takedown match either way, but I wouldn’t be surprised with a Stevo win.

125- osu 3-0
133- osu 7-0 I like Frosty better the second time out against a guy for some reason
141- osu 7-3
149- osu 7-6
157- ISU 9-7 Zerban in his 16th year has too much of a different feel for the true frosh
165- osu 11-9 hopefully just a major, but Dee is the guy KD wanted the most out of anybody at ISU, so talented
174- ISU 12-11 MJ pulls a rabbit out of his hat in the 3rd against a gassed Facundo.
184- osu 14-12
197- ISU 15-14 This is why you are here Rocky
285- ISU 19-14

Should be fun

A lot of people online don’t think Ech beats Vega. What’s your thoughts here? I don’t think it’s possible for a true freshman to beat the strength of ech as long as he can keep it on their feet. It would be a major upset to see ech lose this one to me.

My $0.02 is you don’t want to be in scramble situation with Vega.

Brock Hardy is a stud senior, and Vega has crushed him twice.

Hardy is a shell of his former self compared to last year and years before. Nasir Bailey almost and should’ve beat him last week. Ech damn near tech’d Nasir.

While Vega has destroyed Hardy twice, he’s also had many close matches with lesser opponents. Overtime against Nasir, 3-1 over #29 Tyler Wells, 2-0 over #11 Ryan Jack, 5-1 over unranked Jordan Titus who has a 9-10 record this year.

I think Vega is able to out scramble Hardy and Hardy is comfortable going to those positions. But that clearly doesn’t translate to the rest of the field for Vega.

Looking at the style matchup, I don’t think Vega will be able to generate any of his own offense against AE. AE will be able to control the hand fight and use strong attacks with quick upper body finishes to avoid the scrambles. I just think that AE wins a match with 2 tds to none. However, Vega is a very dangerous leg rider and tilted which will present a unique challenge to AE. If AE is up 6-2 going into the third, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vega take top.

It will be a good match, but outside of Hardy I don’t think Vega has faced anyone else in the top 10. So we’ll find out if he really is as good as his ranking, or just has a style that works against Hardy.

I think I’d go

1. Yonger
2. Rocky
3. J Frost
4. Ech
5. Dean
6. MJ
7. Zerban
8. Stevo
9. E Frost
10. Euton

2. Rocky
3. J Frost
4. Ech
5. Zerban
6. EFrost
7. Stevo
8. Dean
9. Euton
10. MJ

Sadly, I think we are in trouble. Just bad matchups. If Rocky doesn't go we've got no shot. If Vinny goes, I give him a better shot than others on here. Evan has to keep from getting in an early hole against Jax. If he keeps it close, he's got a shot in the 3rd.

Edit: Even though I'm least confident in MJ, his funk gives him a chance. He could swing the dual like he did against the Hawks.

You can NEVER count out MJ Gaitan.
