I have tried installing XP on my wife's new MacBook Pro a few times but the install never works correctly. It runs through the first install but then after I restart it doesn't recognize the OS already on the Boot Camp partition. Has anybody else run into this? Thanks,

Make sure everything is up to date on the OSX side. Windows needs to be XP SP2 or better. When it restarts does it try to boot into windows or OSx?

Yeah, I got SP3, it tries to restart in Windows again but it just reads the OS off the disk like normal then goes back into setup.

We actually have VMWare and I like the software but it is just a little slow for me... I'd prefer it runs booted up in the real OS so it isn't such a resource hog. Is there a way you can make VMWare kinda fuse so that OSX isn't running in the background?

(As you can see I don't know the first thing about this)
