So, on the the Mountaineers. Anyone have any insight? I watched a couple of their games to get a feel for what they are doing. Their defense looks fairly solid, especially against the run. They have given up a few huge plays in the running game, especially to backs that can cut back against the grain. We all know someone who is very good at that. They really should have beat TX, blew 2 4th and 1s deep in TX territory. TTU was interesting to watch. The backup QB for TTU had a very good game and TTU did a good job of forcing WVU to kick field goals.

I only watched a bit of their TCU game and I think it'll be a really tough game.

Pretty diverse on offense and their RB does a nice job.

Defense was pretty solid and flowed to the ball well. Their front gave TCU fits the way Okie State does.

With Chiba banged up this year, Brown will be the best RB ISU faces this year. Defensively I suspect it will be similar to OSU- have to chip away with running game knowing it will get stuffed plenty but break a few big runs.
They are a well rounded team that is very good. However it’s important to note that their record and stats have the benefit of not yet playing the top two teams in the league. Odds are they end up 4-5 in the league.
If ISU plays the way they did vs Baylor, WVU will win. I don’t expect that.

WVU fans have to be thankful that everyone is hyping up Campbell as a coaching candidate elsewhere, which has allowed Neal Brown to go largely unnoticed. WVU is having a “Campbell-like” Year 2 and they still have an outside chance to play in the conference championship, as long as they win out and have a few other things go their way.

WV has not won a road game this season

WV has not lost at home (end the season hosting OU)

If (that’s a big if) WVU were to win out then Brown would be Big 12 CotY over Campbell.

The weather looks promising for a December game. I still think the week after when OU plays at West Virginia, that can be interesting with snow maybe?

While I understand the respect for WVU's improvement, let's not forget they will probably end up 4-5 in conference, with no road wins and no wins over the upper half of the Big 12.

From what I've seen they have a good defense and a good RB, but QB is average at best. Not to mention they haven't beaten any of the teams in the top half of the conference

The WV/Tex game is an interesting game to me, if they would of kept kicking field goals when in the redzone the outcome MIGHT of been different, the score certainly would have been.

ISU elected to kick those field goals and kept themselves in the game.

And Hall will be the best back that WVU will see all year. This will probably be a close game, but it just feels like ISU is more battle tested than WVU. The loss to TTU shows that WVU is not that great against the pass, and Purdy has been pretty good the last 2.5 games.

I'm glad our focus is on WVA, because I feel this is significant and a W secures our top position in the league. I feel some fans have 'blown their cash wad' on the UT game and feeling we already punched our ticket. I don't want a let down; this game to me is just as big as the win at UT. A loss at home would feel we negated the win Saturday/

This is definitely not one of the games we can afford to overlook, such as Tech or Kansas. Take WVU too lightly and they will make you pay. But I expect to win even if we play to 75% of our potential.
