On That Note: Rhythm Is Gonna Get You

Ah, my buddy Jim Bass, he's a-working pumping gas
And he makes two-fifty for an hour
He's got rhythm in his hands as he's tapping on the cans
Sings rock and roll in the shower

* Took an hour or two for me to remember this. A fragment of that lyric was teasing me but couldn't quite place it! Was frustrating my brain!

Another one from my childhood...(or close enough)

Oye como va mi ritmo
Bueno pa' gozar mulata

And it would be wrong not to include a French one...with lots of history. This song was written by French composer Michel Berger about Jerry Lee Lewis, the man who played the piano standing up, singing to crazy rhythms...that means "Try to live, try to be happy, it's worth it". Berger married the woman who sang this song, France Gall and made it a hit in 1980.

Il jouait du piano debout
Il chantait sur des rythmes fous
Et pour moi ça veut dire beaucoup
Ça veut dire : "Essaie de vivre"
Essaie d'être heureux, ça vaut le coup"

I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
