On That Note - People's Choice - My Choice

Dan Fogelberg also had a string of hits: Run for the Roses, Same Old Lang Syne, Longer, Leader of the Band, and others.
My favorite, though, is a sad story of two young people trapped in a dead end life.

Loved Dan Fogelberg since the mid 70s. One of his early hits (before the "Innocent Age" album) "The Power of Gold" is probably my favorite hit song (collaboration with Tim Weisberg), though there are others that weren't mainstream that I'm partial to, like Captured Angel and Crow.

KC, did you get to see his Halloween concert at Hilton in '81? Really good.

For REM, on the Out of Time album, "Losing My Religion" was the song Peoples Choice that turned them into stars. It was OK. After nearly 30 years I would rank it in the middle of that LP. One of my favorites was Belong and the other was Texarcana.

John Lennon

Another solo-Beatles example .. I won't attempt tot tackle Beatles songs, too many have become "prominent" that it's apples to Apple Records. I can't Capitol-ize on that. :)

People’s Choice: Imagine, Whatever Gets You Through the Night, Just Like Starting Over; Watching The Wheels.

BTW, I like all of those songs ... I prefer these, when push comes to shove.

My Choices

---> This might be the closest John veered toward Sgt. Pepperland sound after Fab Four breakup.

Juxptaposing the following songs with John’s angst-laden early-70s output is astonishing.

The Gin Blossoms have a number of jangly rock hits like Hey Jealousy and Allison Road. My favorite song though is probably the country styled "Cheatin".

You can't call it cheatin'
'Cause she reminds me of you

As I understand the OP it's for songs that were singles but much less popular than the major hits. So essentially B-sides. A great example would be LZ's Traveling Riverside Blues...

Since the OP started out of the gate with the Police my choice is a tune that was a B-side which you almost never hear on the radio but I absolutely love it when I do catch it. And I have to bow to the DJs who actually play it...

I did not. I would have loved it - but two problems. 1) we didn't move here until 1983. 2) my ex didn't like concerts, and expected me to stay home.
Welp - when the Stones came through and played at Jack Trice I rebelled and went with a group of friends.

I'm going to go with a less "serious" band here. Even you youngun's can probably name 2 or 3 hits by the Monkees...Daydream Believer, Last Train To Clarksville, I'm a Believer...but my favorite from them came off the "The Monkees" album because it was just.so.damn.random!

As a teenager in the 80's, Van Halen was huge. Some of their biggest songs would be Jump, Why Can't this be Love and their remake of Pretty Woman. My personal favorite is:
