Their own song here and backup band for hundreds of hits out of Stax records in Memphis, for example, Dock of the Bay.
The Steve Miller Band has has some diversity over the years but the biggest mainstay has probably been Joseph Wooten on the keyboards and background vocals. Gerald Johnson was a bass player from 72-73 and 81-83. Sonny Charles did background vocals from 2008-11. Current guitarist Jacob Peterson is from Denmark. I could be missing more?
Multi-racial makeup of ska bands is so common that it's probably harder to think of single race bands. Kind of part of the fabric of ska. The Specials, Skankin' Pickle, mu330, Mephiskapheles, Reel Big Fish (not currently?), etc. Mike Park's label is Asian Man Records.
mu330 used to play in Ames/DSM a lot, they were out of St Louis. Gerry was from Omaha, was park of Skankin' Pickle before mu330. My band opened for them multiple times at the M-Shop, awesome times!
