Like most all the Brit groups, Manfred Mann started out doing R&B covers and some originals in that vein. This one was the theme song for Ready Steady Go, the UK weekly Rock and Roll Television show.

Not a bad song on the entire album.
My dad was/is a huge Skynyrd fan. I grew up on it and that experience probably explains my love of southern rock and the blues it was derived from.

Best Album of 1974? Pretzel Logic. It's timeless. I still listen to it.
Besides Promised Land, that I posted in the OP Chuck Berry had these three major releases in 1964
