I work one town over from Lake Forest. Very nice (and expensive) suburban area. Near good schools, including one of the best HSes in Chicagoland (Stevenson). Lots of properties on/near the lake. I'm sure he'd enjoy living in the area...for two years, until he's inevitably fired after a couple losing seasons while receiving no meaningful support from the Bears organization.

He's a smart guy. I think he'll stay away.

I think there are two jobs that he’s leave for. One is Ohio Stste and the other Notre Dame. I don’t see either coming open anytime soon and by the time they do there will be other splashy names to consider.

Campbell hasn’t won big enough to be offered OSU.

Freeman seems to be on safer ground now - a natty would be nice. But he also seems like a guy who could do well in the NFL.

I doubt he goes to such a dysfunctional organization. But interviewing is still a good way to see if he can get a little raise from Iowa State.

David Kaplan was on KXNO today and said he heard people will be shocked with who the Bears hire. Ken Miller then discussed the Bears going after Mike Tomlin and how that would make a ton of sense. I am leaning more towards that than the Bears hiring Campbell.

David Kaplan is in the dark like everyone else. IIRC he was on record saying no way the Sox hire LaRussa. We all saw how that worked out.

True.

Interesting as he just re-signed so no "leveraging" the interview for more here...but also Chicago could probably pay whatever to buy him out.
They could, but it is also probable that CMC is making more money in Ames than the Bears would offer. Eberflus was getting $3.5M when they fired him.

I have no problem with him interviewing for big jobs like that. Done correctly it can be a really good way to highlight his program and the desirability of ISU guys as NFL guys. But the emphasis is on CORRECTLY.

I love CMC as Iowa States coach. As a loonnnggg time Vikings fan I would not be happy if he were hired to coach the Vikes. College coaches to NFL don't work out very often. As others on here have said I don't think the bears can risk hiring him. That being said, if he does leave at least he has us in position to hire a good replacement. GO CLONES!!

I love Campbell and the Bears and can't think of any reason either side would have interest in this.
Really?

I get the Bears have been a bit erratic in the front office, but they are the Bears?

It seems odd for Campbell to not be very interested if such an opportunity came up.

The other direction I get.
