Okay, I'll be the first to plead gullible. Are any of the posts in this thread claiming Thon is interested in us actually legit or just the usual humor/sarcasm? Scouthoops article as recently as today quotes his mentor not even mentioning us. Just ASU, ND, and INDIANA. We didn't even make the 'periphery'. lol I realize we had assistants watching him, but there were surely other players of interest at Waukee as well, I would think.
Why did Self offer him then? But yeah I'm sure you'd rather have Mitch Lightfoot instead of Thon

Brian Merritt, Hurley's asst at ASU is buddies with Ed Smith, Maker's guardian. Maker will go wherever Smith tells him to go.
Not even close. That said, it's because of a close connection, and some blue bloods may be shying away because of potential eligibility issues.
Nobody at ASU cares about basketball. Of all the times we have been down there visiting my step-daughter I have found this to be true.
I didn't say that KANSAS didn't want him (although I haven't heard about us visiting him for a long time). Ku recruits virtually every good recruit. I just said that I hope Kansas does not get him because he is likely to be yet another headache what with a zillion schools in multiple countries and a guardian/mentor/handler working things for him. If the option was Maker or no one then I guess I'd cross my fingers and hope for the best. I just hope KU has better options because he is virtually guaranteed to be under heavy ncaa scrutiny no matter where he chooses to go. I think I would like to have an offseason with no eligibility drama.
